Wasn't There Supposed to be a Tequila/Margaruita Bar Inside at Mexico?

It's been so long since I read this rumour here that I forget the details, anybody know anything?

Bill from PA - I thought you started the rumor! :)

But, this would be a wonderful thing. Anyone know something? I would like to know too.

Recently visited and did not see it.
OUTSIDE still has COLD DOS EQUIS beer though!!! :drinking1

The Margaritas at the restaurant inside Mexico were phenomenal. I would see no reason for them to open a bar for just that.

I definately recall reading about these planned changes for Mexico and I was really looking forward to it! I thought it was planned for some time in 2008. Let's hope they get to work soon!

*** WARING ***UNSUBSTANTIATED RUMOR *** WARNING

1) There was a rumor that the bar was put on hold.
2) They are worried about drunks in the park.
3) WDW has placed a 2-drink limit in bars.
. . . it is clearly posted at bars and at pool bars
. . . the sign is also up at Rose & Crown bar
. . . of course, sometimes the bartender exceeds the limit

I was there in August and I asked about the Tequila Bar. A CM told me it was going to replace the silver jewlery gift shop inside the Mexican pavillion; however, the gift shop was still operational at the time and I didn't see any signs of construction. So if they are still going to do it - it's a ways off!

I'm pretty sure the 2 drink limit refers to
two drinks per ID at any one given time
Not meaning that one person can only have 2 drinks in a bar.

I would concur with this--2 drinks per ID. If there is a 2 drink limit, there would be many a bartender in trouble for overserving my husband and I. ;)

This rule has nothing to do with the total number of drinks a single person will be served at a place, it's how many drinks an adult can get at one time and it's more relaxed than it used to be. Up until about 3 years ago, if I rolled up to Carl at the R&C and ordered two pints, he'd ask me to point out the person the second drink was for. If it was my wife, he'd pull 2.If it was one of my daughters, he'd ask to see their ID. Now, it's two drinks per adult at one time, no limit on the number of times I can go back for more. I'm sure if I were to stumble back, obviously 'over served', I'd be turned away.

I hope they take the tequila bar idea off hold. One thing that's getting me through this pregnancy (other than the idea of an adorable baby in my arms) is the knowledge that I will again be able to have as much tequila as I want!

:teeth:

Bill, nice picture with Carl! (I think I've been to the R&C too many times).

Only if he recognizes you when you walk in on the first day of your vacation! :rotfl2: We are flabbergasted that he remembers us from year to year, then again--maybe we should be worried that we spend far too much time there when we do visit! :rotfl: Carl is a great CM and a pleasure to visit with at R&C.

Oh yeah, as to the original topic--there was supposed to be a tequila bar, but there were no signs of it when we were there in June. We went in looking for it, but were told it did not exist--obviously. :(
