Looking for a hotel near Smithsonians with complimentary breakfast and free or cheap parking. Going April vacation and would like to spend less than $250 a night. Help!!!! I'm a germ freak so it must be clean.

If the search function is working again, try that. As for free or cheap parking in DC (or any major city), I think you might be SOL.

Good luck on finding cheap parking in Washington DC. We never found that last year. Even complimentary breakfast might be hard. We ended up staying at the Embassy suites and they did have it there. But the parking was not cheap. We did get a good rate on the hotel though. We found our deal on http://www.travelzoo.com/

The Embassy suites was nice. It was not too far from the museums. We were able to walk to the museums, but it was about a 15 minute walk. The hotel was 2 blocks from Ford's theater. You could catch tour buses there, so it was pretty convenient for touring the city.

Keep checking that website, because they update it often.

Oh, here is a link to the hotel we stayed at. It was very clean.

Good luck! Spring is peak time for tourists in DC. Your best bet would be to find something reasonable that's along a Metro line. Old Town Alexandria as a few hotels within walking distance of the Metro. You can also try Crystal City, though that will probably cost you a bit more.

If you give specific dates it might be more helpful.

Our dates are 4/18-4/21 just want a place with close access to transportation to the museums, etc. Do not want to spend too much time in the metro either. Hoping to have places to eat dinner nearby as well.

We stayed in Pentagon City. The Ritz-Carlton had a great package special that included free valet parking and breakfast for two for around $130/night. It is attached to a mall and a metro station. We walked to the Pentagon and there were plenty of places to eat, including the food court at the mall. We had no issues with walking around in the evening and we would definitely stay there again. We missed all the DC traffic by using George Washington Parkway instead.

Part of our trips overlap, too! :)

I didn't look at parking at all (we're taking the train in), but free breakfast near the Smithsonians is hard to find. We were able to use the corporate discount that Marriott offers to my husband's company though. I must admit that we booked it back in Oct. Good luck!

Well, one of the other problems is that you are coming on a weekday, unlike most cities, DC hotels are more expensive on weekdays.

Anyway,The Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill has some pretty good deals for your dates. They have an Awaken Package, which includes a full breakfast buffett, for $219 per night. Not sure how much parking is though.

We just got back Tuesday from a 4 day stay. I got our hotel through priceline $60 a night at the Marriott Courtyard Alexandria. The rooms have either two full size or a king with sleeper sofa.
Parking was $16 a day. They don't have a complimentary breakfast but we asked for a fridge (free). Costco is 1.5 miles away.
The highlight of the trip for my kids "DC cupcakes".LOL
The day the National Christmas Tree was felled by high winds‎ we had just finished touring the White House about a hour before it happened, we then went to the Washington Monument which was closed because of the winds.I thought my nine year old was going to blow away. When we went back the next day one of the workers told us a little girl had been blown about 10 feet over a bench and onto the grass. Scary!

I had posted in another DC thread that we are going for 4 days over Memorial Day weekend and paying $90 a night for this hotel on Capital Hill. Did priceline name your price and got it. I would try this for your trip. Parking was $40 ! Where do you live? We are taking the train into Union Station-you should too:thumbsup2

I always stay at the Residence Inn in Pentagon City. Great view of the Pentagon and Lincoln Memorial and a block from the Metro. Room & parking usually less than $200/night but varies greatly depending on when you book, what site you use, and when you go. Great full breakfast and even free suppers on weekday nights. Felt very safe there. DEA headquarters are next door.

Residence Inn Old Town Alexandria or Residence Inn Carlyle are both very nice. We love Old Town and it's just a short metro ride into DC.

I just went through this yesterday helping DD19 and DD20 look for a hotel room. They are going up for a concert on April 9th. I actually found that the hotels in Bethesda, MD - right on the Metro Line were way less expensive than even Old Town Alexandria. The Hilton Garden Inn was showing up for only 110 a night for a double, right next to the Metro. Everything in The District was 250 and up plus parking.
