Does anyone know about the hotels in Washington D.C.?? I'm going to need a room for one night near the Rayburn Building(Congressional building). I know nothing about Washington!!!

My dh suggested Holiday Inn - Capitol Hill. If you have any other questions let me know. Dh has spent quite a bit of time in DC.

Also, there are a lot of hotels to choose from in the Crystal City area (Pentagon) -- Residence Inn, CC Marriott, Gateway Marriott, Courtyard Marriott & Emabssy Suites. The metro is very easy to navigate.

Take care!

I've stayed at the Hyatt on Capital Hill, it's nice and very convenient. The Hotel George is really nice also, very posh. It depends on what you want to spend. If it were me, I'd try to bid on a four star near Capital Hill on priceline.com.

Thanks guys!! I haven't been in Washington since the fifth grade and thats a VERY long time ago. I'll check out the suggestions. From what I hear the Metro is really easy to navigate as long as I stay near the "blue line"??

Actually if you stay anywhere near (walking distance) ANY of the metro lines you're in good shape. The area around the National Zoo is nice, lots of good international restaurants. If you want to walk to the Congressional Building, without any other travel, I would stay in the Capital Hill area.

I'm looking at the Capitol Hilton since it appears to be really close to where we have to go and its reasonably priced ($161.00/night).

Capital Hilton
1001 16th Street Washington, District of Columbia, US, 20036
1-202-393-1000
0.80 miles from city center

Is this location within walking distance to the Capitol or would we have to Metro?? I hate going to towns I've never been before!!

We're only there for one night, so while I would love to stay at The George(looks amazing!) $309.00 is a little steep.

You would need to take the Metro from that hotel unless you really want a walk. I love to walk, especially around there, so I wouldn't mind. The good thing about that location is that you would be well within walking distance of Metro Center, and you can board all four lines of the Metro from there.

Our favorite is the Washington Hotel right around the corner from the White House. A bit pricey but in our estimation worth it.
