So, I think our washing machine is about to die. It fills up with water at the end of the cycle and won't drain all the way. we found water on our floor so it must have leaked from the top. No leaks in the hoses or anything. and it sounds like it's draining somewhat, just not enough. Ugh, right before Christmas is not a good time. UGH.
Any suggestions, other than calling a plumber.

We had that happen a few years ago, a repairman looked at it, told us it would cost almost as much to repair as to get a new one. We got a new one. Ours was a pretty old washing machine though.

:confused3 I think I would call an appliance repairmen instead of a plumber. :confused3

It might just be a blocked drain line. That happened to me (you know those socks that go missing, they might just be going down the drain). So we called a plumber and he rodded out the drain and it worked great.

Does it agitate? If it doesn't agitate, it might be a bigger problem. How old is your washer? Mine wasn't so old at the time, so it was the drain problem. When it didn't agitate at all, that's when we got a new one delivered from Sears that night.

The day after we got back from WDW the water entered our washer and emptied out- We were lucky it didn't drain the well and flood the septic tank. I called the appliance store who told me the washer was 20 years old and to buy a new one. If your washer has age on it, it may be time to replace it. Perhaps you can arrange a payment plan so you don't have to cover it right now.

I just replaced my almost 18 - 19 year old washer, it was in mid cycle and the drum actually lifted up and came back down side ways - or as much side ways it could go. When they took it out, found water and oil all over the floor. They told me any more a washer has a 10 year life.

Well, it's about 15 years old....maybe a little longer. We've tried draining it, doing a different cycle, everything. It isn't agitating and it won't stop filling (unless we turn off the water to it). UGH. Not what I want to spend money on right now.

We just had to buy a new washer last week. We got it at Home Depot. They delivered the new one, set it up, and took the old one out for us. Great service! :)
