We need a new washing machine...FAST! I have an almost 3 year old and a 6 month old!

We have a extra large capacity Amana now, probably about $300-400 model. It's 11 years old, and very sick, I can't use it anymore.

I was interested in a new front loader, used my mother-in-law's new kenmore he3t. Not impressed, it didn't hold more than my washer and the clothes were not clean (I took my own cleaning products, so that wasn't the difference). And the matching dryer resulted in really wrinkled clothes! I did 3 loads with this washer.

DH is interested in the calypso ones that don't have a regular agitator, I want to play it safe and get a "normal" washer.

Any advice? Models you love? Ones you wish you had not purchased?

TIA!!

We bought a Maytag Neptune in September. We purchased this because of Maytag's reputation. Well, this February, we have already had to replace the panel on the thing. I did a search and found out this washer does have a reputation of having problems and I wish we had not purchased this washer now. Check out these forums; you may find a lot of information there. http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/

Personally, hindsight being better than foresight, I would have gotten the Whirlpool Duet.

Kenmore Elite King Capacity.....

has double rinse cycle, 7 temp controls....all kinds of fancy stuff I'll never use....quietest washer I've ever heard..and HUGE...my king size comforter can fit with room to agitate etc..

We go with Kenmore Elites now...and have been replacing our appliances as they die...

The washer we replaced with this one, was OLD...and kenmore.

We've had terrific luck with our Kenmores, and have a fridge, stove, washer, dryer, and gas grill, all elites....next is the dishwasher..

Here's a link from Sears.... http://www.sears.com/sr/javasr/product.do?BV_UseBVCookie=Yes&vertical=APPL&pid=02624962000

if that doesnt work...the Sears item #02624962000

I cant say enough good things about Kenmore..

I bought a top loader, Fisher Paykel two years ago and love it. It is energy star rated and gets the clothes very clean. Made in New Zealand and they have been around for a long time. They also make a lot of medical equipment and other appliances. My water bills are about $20.00 less quarterly and it has a very unique spin that is as powerful as the front loaders. The clothes take less time to dry. I now want the dryer but mine won't quit so I can get it.

www.fisherpaykel.com is the link. I got mine at an appliance store with free delivery and haul away of my old appliance. That out weighs the cost difference for a discounted chain, IMHO.

We buy Kenmore Products too.
I researched them in Consumer Reports and Kenmores are ranked pretty high.

I have the Whirlpool Calypso set and love it. Don't have to worry about setting water. It figures that out by itself. Uses less detergent also! Dryer figures out how long it takes to dry things. Would definitely recommend this set. PM if you have any specific questions.

LOL! That cracked me up for some reason.:teeth:

I think mine is a Maytag Atlantis. I like it.:)

Have had Maytag Neptune w/d since they came out abot 6 years ago. Very pleased.

Hi,

Replaced my 27 yo w/d with another Kenmore w/d set similar to mudnuri's machine.

Excellent cleaning. Quiet, good delivery service from Sears.

herc.

I also recomment the Fisher and Paykel. Great machine. It even plays the National Anthem (see my post on page 2). It is great on water usage and never goes off balance. It comes with a 2 year warranty instead of one.
