Washing machine/dryer?

I have the Whirlpool Duet and the only thing about it that brings me any joy is telling people how much I hate it. I loved it for 6 months and now I want to scream whenever I think about it. We've had it 4 years and have the worst smelling clothes. I leave the door open, wipe it down, use the right detergent, etc. Hate. Hate. Hate. We got a letter from Whirlpool a year or so ago apologizing for the smell and suggesting we buy Affresh to clean it. Never had to buy special cleaners before! Hate.

It is so bad that for my birthday this year I asked my husband for a new washer/dryer. Romantic, huh?

We just bought the Samsung from Best Buy (328 version). It is outlet priced, $200 off, and has 10% off when you buy the dryer too.

I did all kinds of research and bought the Whirlpool. My sister did no research and picked the Samsung because it was red. Hers is awesome. Mine, well, you get the idea. I do know some people who convinced Whirlpool to take their machines back, but I was not so lucky.

The reviews on the Samsung are great - 4.6 out of 5 with 60+ reviews on best buy, plus good reviews elsewhere.

We have Frigidaire affinity front loaders and I don't love them but I think it's mainly because they do not have enough features for me. At the time we were outfitting the entire house with new appliances, so looking back I feel I cut the corner on my washer and dryer, but I also have NOT had any problems either. They are on the second floor in our kids bathroom and they are fine and they never bother anyone and I often run them right before I go to bed or my oldest will turn them on when she gets up in the morning and I am never bothered by them. I do find that mine smells a little, but I'm not great about leaving the door open all the time, I also find that because they use so much less water you can not leave the clothes for any length of time or again I find that the clothes smell.

In regards to additional features, I would love an additional rinse cycle, so if by chance I left the clothes in their too long I could just re-rinse them again, vs. sending them though an entire washing cycle again. I find that if I'm watching on permanent press my clothes take about 28 minutes in the washer.

I do not have mine on the pedestals and they do not bother my back at all, and the reason for not going with the pedestals was so I could fold right on top of them.

My parents have the Whirlpool Duet on pedestals and they LOVE them, but I find them too big on the pedestals.
