We are staying at Beach Club next month and wondering If there is a convenient place to to wash clothes so we do not have to pack so much

Thanks in Advance
Mike

The guest laundry is by the quiet pool at BC. It's kind of small, and not a lot of machines. The times I have used it I was the only one there though.

There are two laundry rooms at BC....the one by the quiet pool which is located in it's own little building (along with some bathrooms) and there's another one next to room #1532. There is also one at BCV and one at YC but I'm not exactly sure where they are located.

Here's the Laundry Info from the Yacht & Beach Club FAQ

Two things-

Change machines are not always working- BYOQ

Guests have been reporting a lot of the machines are often broken, or the laundry rooms can get crowded.

Laundry Information :laundy:

Self-service laundry rooms are located near the BC quiet pool (near room 1532) and near the YC quiet pool. Another small laundry room may be found on the first floor of the YC, near the side exit (wedding gazebo side).

Washers are front loaders. According to repairmen working on disabled washers, HE (High Efficiency) detergent should be used in the machines. Regular laundry detergent is available for purchase in the laundry room ($1) or at the Beach Club Marketplace ($2). Don't forget to pack a few dryer sheets.

Both washers and dryers cost $2.00. Washers run for about 30 minutes. The sign in the laundry room says the dryers run for 20. Users have reported the dryers run for up to 30 minutes on regular and permanent press cycles.

Thank you bellebookworm9 for the BCV laundry room photos!

We did laundry when we were there in May and the majority of the washers were out of order and the rest in use. I tried the more remote room first but they didn't have change so I went to the one off the pool and they had change but half the washers were broken and the other half in use. Went back to the other one and the only free washer had a broken door that wouldn't close.

The concierge then sent me to BCV and there were only two washers but both were available and didn't even need the change I went back and forth for.

Anyhow, I just mention it because what I thought would be a quick load of laundry took up my entire morning it seemed. Hopefully all the broken washers was a fluke.

I did a couple of loads of laundry in the pool room early this month. Half the machines. (Including the change machine) were not working

Heckuva lightning show was going on though, plus you can watch parts of Illuminations

If they only had a small branch of Hurricane Hannah's there it would have been enjoyable

Washing clothes in your room in 6 easy and inexpensive steps:

You will need detergent, bleach (for whites), and fabric softener.

Step:
  1. Fill ice bucket in the sink and dump it into the toilet until the bowl drains. Then fill the toilet with hot water from sink using same ice bucket.
  2. Put detergent and bleach (optional) into toilet. Fill bath tub with tepid water.
  3. Toss a few articles of clothing into toilet and agitate with a toilet plunger. If you don't have a toilet plunger or the one that is there is too skeevy then go at your clothes with any blunt stick or your hands. 10-30 seconds of agitation for each toilet load is all it takes.
  4. Pull the clothes out of the toilet, give it a shake and/or a gentle twist and then plop it right into the bathtub. You may have to refil the toilet water from time to time and you should change it when switching laundry types (darks to colors to towels etc...) but the tub can take all the laundry you give it even different types.
  5. When all of the laundry has been through the toilet, let it sit a bit in the tub. Stir it a bit like you're an evil witch (or some other moderatey offensive stereotype). Now drain the tub and when the water is all out, fill it again and this time add fabric softener. Let is soak a bit then drain for the last time. Let it drain while you go somewhere interesting for an hour or three.
  6. Most hotel bathtubs have a clothes line in them. Use the clothes line, shower curtain, towel racks (put towels under to catch drips) and whatever to let your laundry drip dry overnight. You can hang it until fully dry if you like but after hanging all night I can usually get them dry in 15 min using the coin dryers.

Now you got the whole job done without waiting around the laundry machines all day for the price of a cycle or two on the dryer. I've done the math and in terms of the time you actually give up doing it my way vs. using coin laundry, my way lets you have more fun.

I mean ... yeah... there's the toilet thing though.

We normally do laundry every trip and doing our laundry at BC was more of an ordeal than usual. A family had taken all four washers at the pool laundry room so I had to go to the other one, but there was no change machine there and one washer was already being used. Had to go back again to pool laundry for change. Then the dryers were not all that clearly marked so I accidentally put change in the dryer that was already running with someone else's laundry. so I had to go all the way back to the room. Get more dollars. Then to the pool laundry for change. Then the other laundry room to start the dryer. Then one cycle wasn't enough to dry it and we had to go trough all that again. But times two because we had two loads that were not running at the same time.

We just did laundry yesterday at the GF and it was no big deal. We got lucky I guess.
