Where are the W/D's for VWL located? We have stayed a couple of times in BWV 1 BR units and got spoiled. Staying in a studio at VWL in May and dont want to have to take alot of extra clothes.

Any information, or maybe a floor plan would be appreciated.

They are on the 1st floor. When you come in the main entrance they are down the hallway on the left side of the elevators. They are just a few doors down on the right. Not as convenient as in the room, but not that bad. Only problem is you really can't leave and take off. They have timers and are very accurate so you know when to return.

With timers on the washer and dryer, how long should you wait to take someone else's clothes out if they are not there to do it?

Would it be proper to just put there things in a chair while you do your wash since they weren't there and its cutting into your time on your vacation?:(

There is one rolling laundry basket that you could put someone's clothes in if they do not return and you need the washer, or there is a folding table, I would think it would be okay to leave dry clothes on the table.

We usually did laundry around 5:00 or 6:00pm while everyone was heading out for dinner and I think we only ran into 1 other person doing laundry on two occasions (we did laundry 3 times in 10 days).

We got it done quickly and it was fine with us, since we don't usually eat until around 8:00pm anyway. I think early morning would be a good time too, if you are an early riser.

Is soap available, or should we bring our own? Also, what is the cost for the W/D or again, are they free?

I personally would NEVER touch someone else's things, EVER. But I have heard on this board of people doing just that. I think it's a respect issue that goes both ways. That's why I mentioned the timers. I go back just before my clothes are done to make sure that someone else doesn't think I have done just that, left them. Once the load is done you have no way of knowing how long it has been there. Since there are only 2 washers at WLV, I only take 1 load down at a time in case someone else may need to use them. There are also 6 dryers????, so when my clothes are washed I split up the load into 2 or 3 depending how many are vacant(all 6-I'll use 3) then they dry so much faster. And, again I go back frequently to check them and take out the ones that are dry. Then if the other washer is still free, I'll do another load if I need to. Usually I spend a couple hours but try to do things like eat lunch at Roaring forks so I can check back real easily, or while fixing a meal in the room, or packing to go home, or shopping at the little store, or just walking around or relaxing. Yes, it cuts into my vacation time, but it's part of the time budget. If I go down and they are full, even if they are done and they owners have not retrieved them, I just take it back to our room, move on, and try later. I see your point though if someone just left them in, and went to the parks for the day, tying them up all day, that would just be wrong! So I hope that everyone has lots of resect for each other, those doing laundry and those who need to do laundry. ;)

Bring laundry soap or be prepared to pay $1.00 per load or more depending on what else you add (dryer sheets, fabric softener). The washers and dryers are free to use, they do have coin slots, but you don't need to fill them to use the machienes.
