We had reservations at CBR for May 29th-June 5th but decided to change our stay to CR. I called over 2 weeks ago to make this change and "thought" everything was ok. I received my CC statement in the mail today and what a big shock I was in for! My balance is now a little over $3,000!!!:earseek:
I immediately called WDW to find out what was going on and spoke to a very nice CM. She had to do some research and after being on hold for a LONG while, she came back on the line and told me that on the 21st of this month they refunded my card back $1,123.00 for the first (cancelled) reservation at CBR. After I got off the phone with her, I called the CC company and they said they show NO refund on my card and that it should have been done by now because, according to her, it should only take 72 hours. She told me to give it 2 more days (not sure why 2 days exactly) but then call back to see if it had been posted by then. If it hasn't, I'm not sure what else to do. Sorry about the rambling, I am just VERY upset and wondered if anything similar had happened to anyone else?

It usually takes longer than 72 hours for a credit to appear back on your statement. Same thing happened to me when I applied the recent "room-only" codes to my existing reservation. They charged the new (lower) one-night deposit immediately. I kept checking my credit statement on-line and I finally saw the old (higher) one-night deposit credit was posted about 5 - 7 days later. It should come through OK in a few days.

Oh, and enjoy the Contemporary.......as I'm sure you will!

Thanks so much for the words of encouragement Parrothd, makes me feel so much better. Funny thing, they seem to take that money away a lot quicker than they put it back on, huh? lol
We haven't ever stayed at CR before so I'm looking forward to it. My excitement was dampened when I saw my CC statement but I will wait it out and see what happens. Thanks again!

Last time I made a change they told me give it 3 billing cycles for the credit to show up, fortunately it only took about 3 weeks.

I had quite the opposite problem today. I called today with my debit card to make a payment on our reservation and was told that my balance was $506.00, we are staying 7 nights in Poly concierge, so I know that wasn't right. So someone is missing a $1500 deposit that was applied to my account. I told the cm that it was a mistake and needed to be fixed. Hopefully she did, although she sounded like she didn't believer that I hadn't made a deposit on my reservation

I work for a bank, in credit cards and we always tell our customers that a credit can take 10 business days to come through.

For some reason it always takes longer for credits to process than purchases. And it's inconvenient because it can put the cardholder over their limit , they have to pay interest on the total balance etc.

I wish it was quicker.

I'm pretty sure the truth is in there somewhere. :(

There is no reason in this internet-connected day and age for refunds to take any longer than charges do. Someday this will happen to some powerful congressman's dear-old-mother-in-law, then it will all change. In the mean time, they keep your money because it's to their advantage to keep your money. Who's to stop them?

If you are really disgusted or are close to your limit (or both!), call your credit card company and dispute the charge. You'll get a temporary credit until the real one shows up. You are completely within your rights as a cardholder to do this.

The credit card company takes longer to refund the money so that they can invest that amount for a short period. Even a few days interest on that amount multiplied by the huge amount of people it happens to means pure profit for the credit card company.

When I cancelled 3 reservations (had 3 rooms at CSR) and asked to transfer the deposits to my new one Poly ressie, the CM said I could only transfer 2 of the 3 since one room was for different dates. Not sure why but thought OK, I'll see a refund on my credit card. A week went by, it didn't show up, so I called. That CM said it had been processed March 13 and should show up anytime (this we just over a week ago). Well, the other day a check showed up in my mailbox from Disney - for the amount of the credit.

I've been using my Disney Visa with them for all ressies so am not sure why this time they didn't credit the amount back. Things just aren't consistent, are they

Banks and credit card companies are great at creating float money for themselves

Charges appear and post within minutes, credits within days or weeks

thanks

I've been told by my VISA card company that a merchant has 30 days to credit your account. I don't know if this applies to every VISA supplier.

Visa is among the worst at this. The only CC company that's worse is MasterCard. Give me Discover any day!!!!!!!
