Was Disney buying Marvel a good idea or a bad idea?

In my eyes I think Disney regrets buying Marvel and I think the only reason they bought Marvel was because if something happened to Stan Lee Marvel would've gone belly up. But I think when Stan Lee died in 2018 Disney secretly wanted to buy Marvel and become the new owner of everything and anything Marvel. But when you look at it from a different side I think Marvel was good at first but I think what has become Marvel's weakest area is their TV division. Because they have had promising shows but simply cancel them after only one season. Take for example when Wandavision came out it was a smart hit but even though Wandavision was great we never saw a second season of Wandavision. And with Hawkeye it too showed promise but I think why there will be a delay on Hawkeye Season 2 is they are planning to develop a more mature storyline for Hawkeye. But as for shows like Echo She-Hulk Attorney At Law Ms. Marvel Agatha All-Along and Daredevil Born Again will probably be delayed in Season 2 storylines. But in Marvel's movies the only four successful movies they had were Guardians Of The Galaxy Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 Doctor Strange and Deadpool and Wolverine but ever since Deadpool and Wolverine was successful movies like Thor Love And Thunder Captain America Brave New World and The Marvels failed to capture success. What I think Marvel should do is release hit movies again and that would make them tons of money

I think they regret not negotiating for Orlando Theme Parks rights at this time.

Do they regret buying? No I don't think they do, but Superhero Fatigue is real and many people like myself don't care to watch them anymore. Die-hards of the MCU will, but casual folks who have no clue who-is-who and really don't care to go into the lore/backgrounds won't.

Also, there will be NO Hawkeye season 2 (this was explained to you in an earlier thread). Wandavision was a one-and-done, Visionquest will be released next year, along with a bunch of other shows/movies from the MCU. Will they be successful? Who knows.

Just to clarify, you mean Disney passed on the Orlando Theme Park rights when they had the chance. I'm guessing Disney passed or Universal outbid them. Years/decades later Disney buys Marvel and now they are limited in what they can do because of the deal Universal has.

As for @DodgerGirl 's original question, no. I don't think Disney regrets it. I'm not a fan of superhero movies or what they have to movies/the movie industry, but the movies for while did consistently make a ton of money. While they figure out the next phase and what to do, it doesn't cost them money not to make Marvel movies or TV shows. They own the rights to Marvel; it was a one time purchase.

Yea, Universal holds the rights and are paying Disney for the rights outlined in original contract. It only applies to theme parks east of the Mississippi.

I would’ve atleast talked to Universal at that point what it would’ve taken to gain the rights based on any theatrical production they produced
