Egypt... NO WAIT... crap... oh ok... Knights and Lights...
So... if Disney booked your airlines on Continental... and you switch to England... don't be surprised if it costs more to fly to London than to Egypt.

Read Theater of Cruelty and am left with a few questions...
1. what does one shop for in London/Pairs (other than purses and stockings)?
2. What all comes with the way pricier than I anticipated 2 days and 3 nights at Disneyland Paris Disneyland Hotel version?
3. Does anyone ever do Knights and Lights... really? I can't find many trip reports AT ALL... feeling kind of bummed on it...
4. Anyone going on this trip?:hippie:

Hmmm... I'd like to know this too. Perfume? Soap? Wine?

Isn't it 3 days and 2 nights? You get the hotel room, VIP fastpasses, transfers from Paris to Disneyland and Disneyland to CDG airport, breakfast and 3-day park hopper passes.

Well, I and 26 other DISers are scheduled to do it in September! I'll be doing a Report then! There are 2 reports, at the very least, in the Trip Report Sticky at the top of the ABD forum (KLondon and SailingBeagle).

Not in July, but I'm sure there are people out there going at the same time as you!
And yes, the airfare for this trip is ridiculously high! I paid almost as much for the airfare for this trip as I did last year to the Med, with a side-trip to Israel!!!

Sayhello

It's crazy how expensive Chicago-London flights have gotten. Well over $1000, where a year ago, $800 would have been pricey. When I took the family a few years ago, I got the seats for around $500 (incl tax).

The only thing I every "shop" for in London are "flying saucers," which are these little candies that look like flying saucers and are filled with sour candy (or sherbert, as they call it in London). They're really expensive anywhere else, but in the U.K. you can get them really cheap at the grocery stores. My family got hooked on this stuff during our trip. I brought back a case of it the last time I visited London.

I don't know if there's anything location specific you'd want to get in London. While the exchange rate is better than it has been in the past, things are generally pretty pricey in London.

You'll probably find more interesting things to bring back in Paris. Cheese or macaroons make for nice gifts. If you can find a nearby grocery store, you'll pay a lot less than buying it near the tourist sites.

We did Knights and Lights in June 2009 with our kids, then 6 and 10. It rained every day and it was still the best vacation we've had yet. The trip feels short, however, especially your time in Paris, so if you can add a day before to see all the things in London that they don't hit (the British Museum and London Eye among others) and a day or 2 at the end, you'll feel that you got the most out of your travel time. We had so much fun and wished that we had just a little more time to explore Paris. Back in 2010 I posted more details, not a trip report though. If you're interested, you can search my posts and easily find it. Have a great trip
