New WISH Team members. If you read one thing over and over, believe this. Being part of this team is fantastic. Part of the ride you get for the event is what I call the roller coaster. There will be lots of ups and downs. The more you post here, the more you will find yourself enjoying the ride. It is an incredible journey. Don't be afraid, shy or whatever to come here and just post up anything. You don't have to know us right away, or all of us at all. You will get to know some of us. It makes the event you are enjoying have MORE meaning and we love to have you.

Smaller Support teams for the WISH racing team - please go to the thread to be placed on a team. We do this to keep the numbers to a manageable state and to spead out to all the smaller teams to try to keep it equal.

Hi Carrie

Would like to still me with the team. Just met up with other Disers at AKL for our meet and greet:grouphug: for the Wine and Dine.. Hope the pictures others took will be posted.

Kathy

Hoping I can be a Warrior again. Oh, how I've missed you all! RL took over in a big way. And while I have been running, it hasn't been nearly to the level I want/need it to be. SO, crawling back I come...

I finished with an average of 15.58:cool1:

This was my first official race besides the 5K that we did last Jan. This was so much different. Learned alot.

My DH John took a spill but continued. Has alot of road rash. He did very well also.

Now time to get ready for the 1/2 at Space Coast in Nov.

Hope everyone else did well

Kathy

Yup, clumsy me hit a cone and I went down. (see above post) Got a black toenail from the cone. I think they have a concrete bottom. Tuck and roll? Rightttt, not that easy for a 60yo. Road rash on left arm, shoulder, leg, chin, by eye and right hand. Ripped my new W.I.S.H. shirt:sad1: Nice lady picked up my glasses and I was on my way. Wanted to get a chip time for coral placement for my full in Jan. and my 305 has an average of 9:34mm for the 8.3 miles. I knew Chi Walking was the way to go for me and all my bicycling allowed for a 164bpm heart rate average. Hope things went well for all others.

Was great seeing everybody at the AKL meet and seeing the W.I.S.H. shirts on the road.

John

Kathy and John - Congratulation on the W&D. Sorry to hear about Johns spill.

Amy - Hope the W&D went well for you.

Carrie - I'm doing the Columbus Half Marathon on October 17th.

AFM - I'm officially in Taper mode for the Columbus Half marathon. On Friday, I kind of did 10 miles instead of the 8 I was supposed to. The extra 2 miles though were mostly an extended warm up. I was staying with my sister for the weekend and my niece and nephew wanted me to walk with them to school. It was a mile round trip. I finished getting my water pack ready and walked the .5 mile (the other direction) to their rail/trail. I then walk/ran my 8 miles for the day. My brother-in-law came with me on his bike with the almost 2 year old in a trailer in the back. I kept with my 2:15 walk/1:15 run the entire time. Instead of being a slow 8 miles though it ended up being almost goal pace. I average about a 14:49 mile. To reach my goal of 3 hours 15 min. I need to maintail a 14:54 but factoring in a non optimal line I'm shooting or a 14:45 pace. Today I was supposede to do 4 miles, but I walked a lot over the weekend going to the amusement park on Saturday and the rennisance festival on Sunday. I then slept in this morning. I'm also driving home today, heading straight for work at 3:00.

Happy Monday Warriors!!

Hope everyone had great weekend & the W&D'ers had I great time!!

After the DL 1/2 last month, I had really high hopes that this race would be a really good time for me.

Well.......................... not so much. The first 10 miles was really good. I felt nice & comfy (with the exception of some minor foot & knee pain) and was having a really fun time. By the end of the race I went from an overall 9:30 "ish" pace to an overall pace of about 10:15. Ugh. My legs & hips started to really cramp and tighten up, & I think my fluid/electrolyte balance thingy got way out of whack.

At the end, sweat was POURING off of me. All I was thinking about was getting my bag and wiping myself off with the towel I had inside. After that I was fine. The next day - no soreness at all. I think the activity during the day & the Dr. Pepper I had pre-race instead of my usual Powerade didn't help either :lmao::lmao::lmao::lmao:.

But I finished, had fun & that's all that matters. Hopefully ya'll did too!!

But the weather (IMHO), except for being dark, was not that great. If there had been a bit of a breeze over the whole course, it would have been much more comfortable.

Now.................onward to Goofy. Much work awaits!

Oh yeah, overall time 2:16:26

My time was just under 3 hours (2:51:07), and the fact that I had to pee AFTER I was already in the corrall didn't help my pace!! But, I think I did alright considering I pretty much didn't train at all. Of course, my legs are paying me back for that. ;)

Now I have a time to beat for next time!! :)

Erika - Good ot see you! We've missed you too! HOpe we help get you a bit more inspired.

Kathy - Congratulations! I'm thrilled for you!!!!

John - COngratulations! So sorry about the fall! I've had some killer road rash myself, but I think a 22 YO may spring back easier. Hope youa re recovering ok!

Jeremy - Great job on teh 8/10-miler. now, take it easy in taper mode so you can dod that again soon. Awesome!

Jim - I'm sure the hot and stuffy weatehr did nto help. Still, the fact that you did it and were not sore the next day is awesome! Way to go!

Becky - Great job!!!! Congratulations. Now, no more of this not training before a race again, ok? ;)

Had a decent 9-miler this weekend. First decent run at home in a long time. A bit worried about this coming weekend, though. We decided to do 10 this weekend so that we only hav eto do 6-milers while on vacation adn then will do 12 when we get back. Of course, I will be at my parents' Friday mornign, so I'll have to do 10 miles at Kensington. :scared1: (The hills there kill me and I haven't run there since early spring. Oh well. What doesn't kill me......

Hi Warriors!
I did WnD this past weekend, missed the meet :( but serindipitously met Kathy and Tracy, and that was great! Got home Tuesday and have been wicked busy since.

Towpath half is Sunday and a visit from some WISH Teamers! Trying to get ready for that.

By the time I get myself settled to relate my WnD story it may be a distant memory in everyone's mind.

Good Thursday afternoon Warriors,

Had a blast running the W & D 1/2 relay with my wife. She ran the first leg & I ran the 8.3 to finish. I will say this: it was HUMID!!! I think Disney has many logistical things to work out for this race next year. It was a nightmare trying to get on the bus to ride to the AK where the 2nd leg started. That is just one of several things that need improvement I think. All in all we had wonderful time. Even upgraded to annual passes while we were there. Sorry I missed the meetups, had too many ADR's to get to. :)

My training for Goofy 2011 is in full swing. Have a 12 mile LSD run in the morning. Have a safe & happy weekend. :cool1:

Stan & Lily - Congratulations!!!!!!

Have a fun time and race this weekend, Lily!

I found another way to inspire me for my LR! I recruited DIaneL, as I will be closer to her side of teh state tomorrow. It's a beautiful, but hilly place to run. Making it a WISH run makes it so much more fun!!!!

Hi all

Congratulations on the W&D everyone. Sounds like they have some work to do for next eyars.

Lily - Good Luck in the Towpath.

Carrie - Hope the 10 miler yesterday went well.

AFM- Wednesday's 4 mile run went miserable. It started out cold, turned into cold and drizzly. My time wasn't to bad though. Friday was much better. It was only a little bit warmer but the sun was shining. I did 5 miles, I averaged real close to goal pace and heart rate peaked at only 160 or 79% of max and averaged 61% of max. The long range forecast for Sunday looks almost perfect. An overnight low of 47 for Saturday night and a daytime high of 67 under mostly sunny sky's.

ETA: Went to the doctor yesterday for a followup. My cholesterol was was down to 219, and my LDL was down as well. My blood pressure was up slightly. I think it a bit of white coat syndrome.

Happy Sunday Warriors!!

A nice, warm day in NE Florida. Only spoiled by the crappy play of the Jacksonville Jaguars on national tv & the crappy play of the Florida Gators last night. Ugh.

Did a 1200 meter swim on Friday & a 5.7 mile "Yasso 800's" interval workout today.

Not much else goin' on...................................

Keep up the great effort everyone!

I have not walked too much since W&D. Went to Hillsborough River State Park for the weekend and my grandkids came and spent the weekend.
On Sunday, I rode the exerciser for 45 min and then today I got out for our normal walk. Speed was (still low 16's) not there but at least I finally got the legs moving. Will be getting back to routine.

Kathy

Just catching up!
Totally jealous of all of you who did the W&D! Great job!!!!
I got a bit behind in my training after a work trip to San Fran but I'm getting back on track this week. I'm trying to re-start my healthy habits in general - more water, more exercise, less junk, etc. Time to get my act together if I'm going to survive in January!

Amanda

Amanda - Can you get me into gear with teh healthy living? I have been off eh wagon for way too long!

Jim - I hear ya' on teh football team bringing you down. My WOlverines were a big let down this weekend, and I was there to experience teh sadness in person. :sad2:

Had a great 10-miler! Was awesome to be out there with Diane! My pace is still abit slow, but would have been much slower without her and dh would have wanted to throw me in the lake for all teh whining I woudl have done. What a great treat!

OK, I haev pre-trip ADD. Leave fro WDW/DCL/WDW in 3 days!!!!!!

Towpath weekend was great visiting with Pat and Jim (WISH Teamers) and the weather was stellar. My DS participated and it was wonderful having him along. He took off after a bit to get a last minute run, but he stuck with us for the most of the event.

This weekend will be 10 miles and I hope to push that just a bit more than the Towpath event. Seems like DS is capable of moving and his new shoes worked wonderfully. He did use his new shoes in the event, but he wasn't going for PR so that was all good. Got pics posted on FB.

Keep at it everyone.
