I also find it comforting to use Paypal and credit cards. I probably wouldn't bid for anything over a few dollars if that wasn't a payment option.

I have had to dispute credit card charges for auctions twice. Once was when the seller just disappeared, much as you've described here. The other was when the seller sent the completely wrong item and then wouldn't answer my emails asking him to replace it. Both times I got my money back.

Sorry you had to learn this the hard way.

What is wrong with people? That has to be some sort of major scumbag to scam a firefighter just trying to take his kids to Disneyworld! I really admire your attitude and am going to say a little prayer for some good luck to come your way. I wish you lived here because my husband travels, my kids are sick and I need somebody to mow my yard!

Can I point out that it seems they are using a company screenname to do private business.
If it were me (and I'm the type who holds a grudge and will track you to the ENDS OF THE EARTH to get my justice) I'd print the auction and all of the emails you have sent back and forth and send them to the HR person in this company and make them aware that whoever this person is is using company property for personal use...

Dw as far as the Hr person for the company, as phantom shows, it is part of the scam, I am forwarding the info to the internet scam division from the above post, run by the FBI. DW I also said I forgave, but I didn't say I gave up. I just don't have that bitterness anymore and I want to use this to keep some other poor sap from getting what I got. I do hope the scammers get caught and they will pay here or after or both. That part is out of my hands, but if I happen to get luck and help find them, then so be it.

Amy thanks for the prayer, and I would love to mow your yard, but I think the weekly air fare would eat up my profit and your pocket book!LOL. BTW I flew into Denver back in June, help family move back here, rained all 3 days I was there in CS, never got to see the mountains, only Pike Torso ( peak was covered by clouds!!!!) The only problem with the airport there is it looks like a tent! Also in all seriousness if you need a lawn person, stop by the local fire house and they will give you some names of folks that do that kind of work. Matter of fact any job from windows to painting you can track down a firefighter that does it. Just ask around, but even be careful with them, not all are the most trustworthy, some bad slip through the crack here too.

Firemouse sent the Postal M.O. to the address provided on the link above. I found another address/ph. number for them on www.anywho.com ~ while the Georgia one "has been disconnected" the N.C one let's you leave a message, which we have not done..anyway maybe they are in NC now..or on their way back to Georgia!? They shouldn't be too hard for the FBI to find with all we've found out about them already.

I was sent a link to your thread as a warning because I was moping about how we couldn't go to MNSSHP on halloween during our trip, and was going to try to find tickets on EBAY. I feel a little less sorry for myself now.

If everyone (who can afford to) on these boards sends just $1 or $2, you could get your $$ back and maybe enough to take the trip anyway.

This is a sad thread - but I'm prone to believing people rather than being skeptical, so I might would have done the same thing as firemouse - if it weren't for my very skeptical DH I might have been scammed more than the one time I was over a decade ago -

I looked at some of the links on this scamartist - several were old and it's unlikely that anyone would check back to threads that old - but I think everyone ought to post this guy's info on every discussion board you frequent - anyone he is talking too, especially offering to sell something, ought to be warned -

I live near Cary, NC, but my searches came up deadend in Cary - however, if you just google on johntre you get lots of links to the same guy -

Thank you for that offer, you are so sweet to even think of that, but it is ok. I hate loosing $700, but thank God it isn't some money we could not do without(I would rather have been telling my kids we were going to WDW, but I hadn't told them so it isn't so bad. It still hurt though, about about 40 + yards or a month of mowing, lol) My wife said how sweet you were too. I am sure things will work out, I have my pd computer cop looking into it too.

Iham, I have an adress in Cary and a phone number, also traced the name to a bad check deal a few years ago, she got probation. I now have them tracked to a name and address in GA 6.5 miles from where they had me mail my money order. I have their new screen name and I can thank my dw (who is the skeptic in my family lol) for most of that above info, she isn't that computer savy either.
