I just found this out...

The folks in the Guest Relations phone room were told today that Veterans Day week attendance estimates are heading into the stratosphere. They have extended DCA operating hours to 10:00 pm on Friday and Saturday night, and added a third Fantasmic! at Disneyland for both of those nights to try and help. The Main Entrance CM's are planning on having to close the turnstiles to one or both parks at least once or twice that week.
Veterans Day will be very, very busy this year.
And why, well a combination of a few things....
It is the start of the Christmas Season at the Resort (all the special events)
It is a Holiday weekend
And it is the last weekend to use the Free ParkHopper vouchers that were sent to many (The number is over 250,000 based on some reports) SoCal households. (They expire 11/15).
In prior years, this weekend has been very busy, and adding the expiration of the Free tickets will just make it worse...

in other words...get there early and dont leave the park for any reason whatsoever!!

Wow!!!

That is a bummer you won't have the park all to yourself but I bet DLR makes up for it with all the extra hours/entertainment etc it sounds like they are planning. :)

damn, more hours for me :stir:

Ah, but Albort, think of all the extra ????? you can buy with that money ;)

Dang. We get into Cali at noon on Sat 11/11. Our plan was to go once we get settled...by mid afternoon. Now I'm thinking theres a chance that may not happen... :furious:

3rd Fantasmic each of those two nights, huh? When they have a 3 F! performances, what time do they usually show?

Oh man, I do not want to deal with the crowds!!!! This is my first trip back to DL in over 15 years, and of course I choose the busiest weekend...that is so my luck. We get in on Friday at 9:00am, I am hoping they will let us in at 10:00.

When they load up a third Fantasmic it's at 11:30.

Wow....we went Veteran's Day weekend last year and it was the busiest any of us had ever seen the parks! I wonder what this year will look like with addition of the free passes expiring? We debated about going at the same time this year but decided against it - I guess I am glad we didn't go (we did have tons of fun last year despite the crowds though!)....we are all suffering from DL withdrawal at the moment...

For some reason, many people don't go early....the parks were still very manageable for the first few hours! Best advice I can give if you don't like crowds...GO EARLY!!!

Oh boy does THAT figure. Well I guess I am glad that I changed our plans and that we are going on Thursday night now so we can be there first thing Friday morning. I knew it was going to be busy but I was hoping it wouldn't be SO mobed that you are pushed around by the throngs of people.

Our plan is to get up at the crack of dawn every day and get as much done as possible in the a.m.

We have annual passes so I was wondering what days are EE since we can't do that. I guess it won't matter but was just wondering how that works. If you get in line do they stop you if you are not an EE and let everyone else go by or are there separate lines for the EE people.

I boy I have a feeling I am going to regret doing this but it is too late now.

We had planned to take a mid day break and come back in the evenings but I guess THAT is out of the question. What about hopping to DCA when Disneyland gets nuts. Do you think we would be able to get back in to Disneyland in the later evening like after 6?

Thanks

Veteran's Day & that weekend have been extremely busy for the past few years. I'm glad the Disneyland Resort is gearing up for it. :sunny:

I was wondering about the same thing with Park Hopping, will we be able to get back into DL at night?

I knew it was going to be busy, but I didn't realize it was that busy. Oh well this was just luck that we got to go so I will be happy that I am going and deal with the crowds!!! Maybe it will be more people watching and standing in long lines for the attractions.

I haven't been to DL in over 15 years, so can anyone list the Must-See and Must-DO so I know it is worthwhile to wait in the long lines for?

Last year was a nightmare. Yes, do get there at least 1/2 before the gates open. Get you FPs early and use them later later afternoon or night. I remember people were let back that evening so you shouldn't have a problem. Returning to the park in the early afternoon may not work. FYI - most of the people I know that received the free parkhoppers will be going that weekend (against my advice). I just canceled my ressies for that weekend at HoJos for fear of the crowds.

There's a weekend to avoid. Another capacity reaching holiday weekend in the parks!

We'll be there the Monday through Thursday before Veteran's weekend. How bad do you think that will be?

Good to hear. That brings up another question though... do Mondays tend to be more crowded than Tue, Wed, Thurs? If so, why?

naw, it just mean more chances for me to screw up my funds :P

we have to sign a paper if we are short $20+ or $20- :P

but i cant really confirm it yet until a week before our guide comes out.

Monday tends be be crowded because its i connected to the weekends... just like Friday... ppl tend to miss work/school that is connected to a weekend.

:sad2: Oh man! Since those vouchers are expiring in a few short weeks I'm guessing DLR next Saturday will be pretty busy. I think people know that Veterans weekend would be a horrible time to go so they just might come this weekend or next.

I hope its not so crowded that I feel suffocated. That's how I felt in the Magic kingdom at WDW. There were SO many people. :guilty:

Do you think Nov. 4th will be bad? It's a saturday and saturdays are always busy but will it be bad? :confused3
