We just got back from our glorious 8 day stay at WL!

It was our first trip there, but wanted to tell about the renovations

Imagine my anticipation, when I drove up to see the majestic towers in front of the building.... and saw scaffolding!

They are replacing the bricks, and both front
towers in the front of the hotels have scaffolding, and they aren't even covered up! There is one larger tower that is covered in the center, but this was not annoucned!

I read on the boards up to my departure date 8/21, and read nothing about it...

Later on during our stay 8/29.. we got a letter stating that all personal belongings needed to be removed from balconies from 9-5, and also to be on the lookout for the repairmen on your balcony....

I just had sort of a thought....I wonder if this is why they didn't offer AP rates during September. Maybe they wanted to do a lot of renovations at different resorts, and didn't want them completely full, especially with guests who visit over and over like passholders who would notice it and not like it. The Beach Club is also doing renovations, and I'll check some others out next week when I'm there to see if I see any more.

Oh, great... We have reservations to stay there during our first Christmas trip and it would greatly take away from the whole experience to see that. Does anyone happen to know when this will be finished? I'll change reservations if necessary...

Thanks for the heads-up!

Jody

We were also at the Wilderness Lodge last week and noticed the scaffolding. (You couldn't miss it!). My husband said that what they were doing is repointing the towers, which is routine maintenance. He didn't think they were doing major renovations.

We did not get a notice to remove personal belongings from our balcony - I guess it depended on your room location. We were in 6098, which was off the lobby.

To the person concerned about the work dragging on until Christmas, I doubt it. But since you're concerned, I'd suggest calling the Lodge directly and asking.
