WARNING: Pity party ahead!

Ugh! I am just so frustrated with life! I'm in my last semester of undergrad (I start graduate school in the fall) and my life is so completely up in the air! My boyfriend and I have been planning to get married for over two years now, just waiting until we graduated. Well, he graduated last summer and hasn't been able to find a job. I'm waiting to see where he gets a job before I choose my school since we're *hoping* to get married in August. We don't get to see each other as often as we'd like, and it's just so hard right now...Today we were with all of his family, and one of his brothers was there with his girlfriend...and just thinking that they're going to probably wind up getting engaged and married before us is absolutely killing me! I know that I shouldn't be so jealous and impatient, but I've found the man I'm supposed to spend the rest of my life with and we can't be together....and we don't know when we can. I feel so bad for him, because I know it has to be hard to graduate in 3 years with a degree that takes most people 5 with high honors, then not be able to find a job and give your girlfriend what she wants most...He was so upset he couldn't propose at Christmas...he got me a cake topper and garter as part of my gift since he couldn't get the real thing yet....

Ok, sorry, I just needed to vent, thanks for reading if you got this far.

If you want to be married so bad just get married now cheap and do the real thing during an annivesary.

Well it's not just that-we can't exactly support ourselves until he's employed. Right now he makes nothing, and I work part time until I graduate...I'll work full time over the summer, but we'd have nowhere to live, no food to eat, no gas, insurance, nothing...So it's not even an option to do it on the cheap.

You know what else I hate? When everybody that I haven't seen for a month or so (like friends from home, etc) check my hand...ugh, rub it in please...

I sympathize with your frustration. You don't have to have a ring to get married. Sounds like even if he gets a job soon you would be better served putting the money toward a future and not jewelery.

My mother didn't get her diamond until they were married 5 years, a house was more important. So if you plan to make a future as quick as you want you may want to prioritize your capital.
