The chicken dip was disgusting and caused me to get sick many times. Be careful...If you stay at Saratoga Springs do not eat at the Turf Club. At least you were warned. Good Luck

I on the other hand have eaten at The Turf Club every year for the past three years, and have found it delicious and enjoyable each time.

We enjoyed the Buffalo Chicken Dip (which I'm assuming is the appetizer you're describing?) this past time, and not only was it tasty, but I surely wasn't sick afterwards.

The service was quick and pleasant, the food was delicious, and the walk to DTD afterwards was enjoyable.

Try not to scare people away from what might be an enjoyable meal. :cool1:

I too have enjoyed Turf Club on a few occasions. I think it's one of the better casual dining places at WDW.

None of us have ever been sick after dining here.

Be careful!!!! Unless you went to the hospital and were formally diagnosed with food poisoning, you do not KNOW the chicken dip made you sick.
Your statement is inflamatory and possibly libelous. You could be sued by Disney.

We have eaten at the Turf Club several times. We consider it one of the best kept 'secrets' at WDW. We have always had excellent service and incredible food.

The one time that we caught the stomach virus while at WDW, we ate dinner at California Grill. However, I realize that between all of the germs at the airport, on the plane, and all over WDW property, the chances of the food at CG being what caused me to be sick are about nil.

We had some dip for appetizer (not sure) but I had prime rib there and it was one of the best steaks on property, especially when you compare prices. We own points at SSR and eat at Turf club each time we stay there.

So sorry you got sick...hubby had some type of food-borne nastiness a couple o years ago and it was not fun at all. And his was at Disney, too, although we think it was what he ate on the road before arrival at Orlando, because on the road was the only time we ate different foods. All of our Disney meals before he got sick we ate exactly the same thing, and I was not sick at all. So he either picked up the bug in his fast food, or from surface germs in the men's room.

But, have to agree with PP: unless you took some of the dip with you to be tested, you really have no way of knowing if that's where you caught something. It might have been the chicken dip...or it could have been bacteria on the handle of the restroom door. Or something else you ate that day. Or in the previous 3 days. For example, illnesses like salmonella can take 12-72 hours for symptoms to develop. If that's what it was. Again, you'd have to go to a doctor to be tested to determine exactly what you had. Did anyone else with you eat the same food and get similar illness? If so, I hope you reported it and sought medical aid.

Now, I seriously doubt that Disney would sue you for saying you got sick after eating at Turf Club (because you actually did get sick after eating there...even though it may not have been from the food you ate there

True true...Bad meal & service is one thing, but Not so sure u should've said that. That being said I did eat here for the first time last year and thought my steak was pretty good. Not over the top excellent, but I'd give it a solid 6.5 out of 10. Also the server was ecellent, & my family's meals were all very good too...

If it was disgusting, how did you possible eat enough of it to make you sick?:rolleyes1

Really? Let's blame the victim, eh? Seriously, it doesn't actually take more than one bite of contaminated food. He could have taken a bite & spat it out yet still have ingested the bacteria or virus. It actually doesn't even take a "bite"--you can pick up stomach illnesses from germs you cannot see with the naked eye on surfaces that were touched by an ill person. Bacteria and viruses can be pretty darn small!

I know the OP believes he got sick from the chicken dip but it's possible he didn't. If the restaurant is serving contaminated food he will not be the only one who gets sick, and if there's an outbreak traceable back to the restaurant we will likely hear about it.

I would think the better course of action would be to notify the restaurant if you honestly think that the dip is what made you physically sick.

Posting about it on a message board where people readily take advice and gather opinions about upcoming vacations, especially dining plans, seems a little over the top, no?

I've gotten a virus/bug in Disney World before, but you don't see me telling everyone it was from one of the meals I ate. There's just no way to know really. Unless everyone who partook in that dip all came down with the same symptoms, how can you really know it wasn't any other part of the meal? Or part of any other meal you had that day? Just because you didn't enjoy the taste of the dip doesn't mean it could have been what made you sick.

And for the record, I wasn't trying to poke fun at the OP, just offer my two cents on a restaurant my family has come to really, really enjoy.

Gotta love that sweet butter!

Since this is not your only food complaint I would say - maybe you should not eat at Disney, you don't seem to enjoy it by all of the complaints you have posted on other threads. NONE of the food or service seems to be good enough.

We went to the Cape May Clam Bake with 3 families ( a total of 12 of us) all of us pretty much ate the same thing and loved it. Two of the teens got sick and the parents did blame the buffet, no one else got sick. My DS ate the same exact things that they ate (mostly crab legs!) and he felt great. So you never know, it could have been something they ate before the buffet or even picked up a bug somewhere. You never know!

I'm sorry the OP got ill -- however it will NOT discourage me from eating at the Turf Club! We have been eating there for years and it's been consistently good.

We eat at the Turf Club at least once every trip, whether we are staying at SS or elsewhere. We have always had good food and at least decent service (usually better!)

DH is highly, highly prone to stomach viruses. It is not unusual in any way for him to have three or four stomach viruses in a month. This has been going on as long as I have known him which is thirty years. Because of this, I have been able to make many observations about someone with a stomach virus. One of the most important things I have noticed about him is just before he starts with the "obvious" symptoms he will start saying that something "tastes funny". Usually we are eating the same thing! I notice nothing, but he thinks it tastes strange.

I have noticed the same thing with reports here on the DIS. Often reports will claim that a certain food item tasted funny and then a little while later they are sick. I have a theory that maybe food tastes "off" because you are in the beginning stages of a sickness.

Most of the experts that have commented on these topics over the years (here on the DIS) say that generally it's not the food item you just ate that has you feeling sick a few minutes later. If it really is food poisoning it usually, but not ALWAYS (depending on the bacteria) manifests with symptoms many hours later (as in days).

Someone mentioned Cape May crab legs and teens feeling sick. I just wanted to say that is just how my shellfish allergy symptoms started at WDW several years ago. Terrible, terrible abdominal pains....it happened each time I would eat crab. I thought the poster who mentioned it might just want to mention the possibility to the parents of the teens so they can keep an eye out since if it is an allergy developing symptoms can escalate and be life threatening.

We went to the Turf Club last fall for the first time and LOVED it. The service was great, as was the food. I recommend the grilled caesar salad and the burger topped with lobster. YUM! We WILL go back!:thumbsup2

We have never eaten there but my parents who have extremely high standards ate there 2 weeks ago and loved it! To each his own.
