I should know this, but I dont.. what does nerve gas and mustard gas do a person??

nerve gas will kill you, i dont know about mustard gas but it sounds kind of good

as the name implies...nerve gas is a nerve agent...if, with enough exposure will cessate the brains electrical control of body functions..including the motions of the heart and lungs.

mustard gas..is not good either...it is a blistering agent which can cause aweful effects on the skin and muscuous (sp?) tissues....it is very 'effective' on destroying the respiratory structures of the body. :( Mustard gas was first employed in WWI in the trenches of France...and has been subject to treaties never to be used again ever since...

Nerve Agents - liquid - A very small drop will cause sweating and twitching at the site of contact. A small drop will cause nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea. A drop will cause a loss of consciousness, convulsions, braething will stop and flaccid paralysis will occur. The effects begin within 30 for a large amount and 18 hours for a small amount.

Nerve Agents - vapor - large amount - loss of consciousness, convulsions, flaccid paralysis, breathing stops, heart stops. Effects begin within seconds to a minute.

Mustard gas is a blister agent- Symptoms will not appear for several hours, usually 4 to 8. Redness of the skin appears first, followed by small blisters which will then combine into large blisters. Eyelids may become swollen and inflamed causing them to shut. Damage to the airway begins with sinus pain, irritation of the nose, a sore throat, and a hacking cough. There may be voice changes and a shortness of breath. Infection often follows. Large amounts of mustard will damage bone marrow causing a drop in the number of white blood cells, red blood cells, and platelets. Death may occur from overwhelming infection. Very large amounts of mustard may damage the gastrointestinal tract with loss of fluids and electrolytes.

Mustard effects are like radiation causing cell death.

Nasty stuff.

Jason - Don't try mustard gas on your sandwich while on the toilet, not a good combination. :p :p

Browneyes...I believe that comes from the nature of the effects....similar to puting a hot mustard onto the skin...which creates a chemical burning

Looks like your question has been answered, huckster, I just want to say it is nice to see you again. Hope you have a good day. :sunny:

My grandfather was exposed to mustard gas in World War I and had lung and esophagal (sp?) problems for the rest of his life.

In Camp Doha in Kuwait, Lt. Gen. David D. McKiernan — the overall commander of the U.S.-led coalition army massing south of the Iraqi border — said in an interview with journalists that the threat of chemical and biological weapons is the biggest danger faced by the 100,000 troops under his command.
“It would be a hugely bad choice on the part of any Iraqi leader or commander to employ chemical weapons,” McKiernan said.
Asked what the response would be to such an attack, McKiernan simply replied “dramatic.”
