If someone had asked me two years ago if I was able to run a half marathon, I would have laughed at them. I was 269 pounds and could barely huff and puff up and down stairs.

This weekend, I ran my first half marathon at Disney. I'm sure that my final time will make people go ehhhh (I finished at 3:06 on the dot due to an injury, was shooting for 2:30)...but in reality, not even a YEAR ago I could not have done this. I lost 116 pounds and said if the weight ever left, I'd run one of the Disney races...and there I was.

And yes, I totally cried when I crossed the finish line, and the floodgates completely opened when my husband and I met up at the finish line party and he told me how proud he was of me.

Here's my new shiny that I am so proud of...and my weight loss progress pics :)

you look AMAZING!! and congratulations on FINISHING your first half-marathon...never downplay your accomplishment...you FINISHED!

Wow! That is truly amazing. I got tears in my eyes just reading it! So inspirational. I just started my journey at 236 :sad2:. Two and a half weeks later I am down 9.8. I really hope one day I will have the feeling you just described. Congratulations!

What a great story!! Thanks for sharing and you're gorgeous! I can't imagine how good it must've felt to cross that finish line, what an accomplishment!

Can I just say amazing??? :lovestruc I have tears in my eyes reading about your joy, your accomplishments, and seeing your pictures! I know all too well about the running thing because if someone told me a year ago, I would be signed up to participate in a half marathon, I would have had them committed! Because I couldn't run more than 30 seconds without feeling like I was going to die. I share in your wonder and excitement. I think you look simply beautiful and your time is something to be very proud of! Congratulations!!! :cheer2:

Congrats! You've got a great story. Thanks for sharing and really great accomplishment!

This is one of those milestones where the time doesn't matter. It's all about that you DID it. That is success!

I've already decided that my first half has to be a Disney half - possibly because that's the only thing I can think right now (I have only run 5Ks so far) that would make me feel good after running that far. ;)
