Wanted to share my idea for ds's trip journal

We are taking ds to Disneyland for the first time and he has decided to make a trip journal. I looked at the printable journals from themouseforless.com, but felt they were rather generic, so we are making our own.

One of my favorite sites is www.barebooks.com. I regularly place orders for blank comic books (Ds loves to write comics) and blank books. I found an extra blank book from our last order and had ds customize the cover. He drew some characters on the first few pages, and those will be for autographs. I'm writing about 6-8 lead topics, one per page, after the autograph section. This is where he can write specific answers to my questions, such as I felt really happy when. . . or My favorite ride in Fantasyland is. . . The remaining pages will remain blank, so that he can journal or draw anything he likes. The book is small enough to fit in a little day pack, light enough to not make a difference to the weight, hard bound, so it won't get ruined or rumpled, and there are enough pages to let his imagination run wild.

I just wanted to share the idea. It's cheap and it saves on printer ink. Here is the link to the blank books section of bare books. FWIW, we are using the completly blank book. http://www.barebooks.com/books.htm

Enjoy!

You couldn't have posted this at a better time. My dd is going to have an "UP" themed birthday party and I was looking to find blank journals for the kids to create their own "Wilderness Explorer" books at the party-these will be perfect. Love the fact that shipping is only $3 too! Thank you!

Thanks for posting. On our last trip we were actually talking about this. DH stated that we should just try to find a blank journal for autographs. Great idea.

Thanks so much for posting! My DD6 is obsessed with journals and writing her own books. She got a blank book last year, and loved it. I went to buy more, but it was $10 for one! :scared1: Last week I got her a notebook at Target that had the lines at the bottom for writing and blank space at the top for a picture/drawing. It was only $2.99, but it just looks like a regular composition notebook (the pages are falling out already). She will LOVE the hardbound books! They make great birthday presents, too, if you throw in a set of colored pencils and stickers. :thumbsup2

The erasable crayons are fabulous, too. The colors are good, they erase, and they're cheap! Sheesh, you'd think I work for Bare Books the way I love them, but I promise I don't. They've just made my little budding comic book writer/detective/scientist/artist very happy.
