will we disappointed?

Party consists of me & dh (late 40's), ds (19) & dmil (86)

Never been before-but like the look of the menu for us all= big positive

How intense is the camaraderie with the servers?

It really depends on your mood/expectations. Please understand that this is a themed restaurant, to the extent that your server will play a character - annoying brother, bossy mother. We have a lot of fun here, and the food is delicious comfort food. I have read reviews where people have complained that their server was annoying - but I don't know if they understood what the restaurant is about. If you are in the spirit of playing along, then you will likely have a great time.

How much the servers play into their role is hit or miss. Some do a lot more than others. They will also play off of you. If your party is into it, they will be more into it and visa versa (again, this does depend on the server). We think the food is a lot better at 50's as well.

50's prime time is a must do for my kids. We haven't done sci fi yet, but our friends went a few months ago and they were disappointed.

I do agree with previous poster that you just need to go in having and a good time. If you don't like to have silly antics or at times rude behavior, change your plan. It's suppose to be like eating with family. You set your own table and sometimes they play tricks.

My daughter was put in the corner for having her elbows on the table. She loved it!

Thanks for the responses.:flower1:

We love banter in our immediate family..
Ds is the cheesiest cheekiest young Man I know.:love1:
Dmil can be rather reserved or totally into it & I know she'll love the menu.

So, hopefully as long as she's in the mood & pre warned we'll be ok.

There are fairly frequently reviews where folks are disappointed with lack of banter from their server. As PP stated, it is up to the server. Don't go with too high expectations.

Get the Peanut butter Chocolate Cake! It is huge so you can share :)

I found the portions huge, me & DH shared the chicken platter.

My family like it better than Sci-Fi and the food is better. I second the fried chicken and my 3 kids shared the platter. The PB&J shake is the bomb!

We go to 50's Prime Time on every single trip. We really like the food. The Fried chicken dinner is really good.

We didn't enjoy our last visit. Our server was truly annoying! We had gone before and had an okay time. I would love to take my son just for the theming but we won't be going back.

We thought the chicken pot pie and meatloaf were so delicious! I was impressed with the food. It was just me and my fiance, they didn't do / say anything funny to us- I was disappointed! Was looking forward to that!

50s was ok. We didn't get much banter, almost too mild, but it's going to depend on who you get for your server. We love Sci-fi for the atmosphere and have never been disappointed in the food. We go almost every trip, mostly because it's a favorite for my kids, but they're younger.

Well; you guys have convinced me the ADR was the right choice.

Looking forward to going now & seeing whether our server is overwhelming/underwhelming or entertaining.:chat:

We finally tried Sci-Fi on one of our last couple of trips and I was NOT impressed. We DO however enjoy 50's Prime Time. The food is better IMO. The service we had at Sci-Fi was so-so and we waited a LONG time for our res to be seated. Your server experience at 50's will vary tho. Some are really good and lots of fun and some are lacking. But regardless of that interaction, the food is infinitely better and our waits to be seated upon checking in have never been very long.

I have to add that I had one of the best desserts of our trip at 50s. Dads brownie sundae. So good :)

The food and the service are far more important than the interaction anyway.
Dh & dmil are really big foodies.
"Grandma really loves her food, must be where dad gets it from" is a line often uttered at home.:rolleyes1

We usually alternate Sci Fi and 50's Prime Time for our trips. Like others have said, the experience will depend a lot on your server (and to an extent, the other servers in that section - one year our server was a bit of a dud, but one of the others in the same section more than made up for it).

That's a good idea.:o
And dmil & ds have both been to scifi previously.

A little insight into life in general perhaps?
