I am interested in starting a collection. Unfortunately, when I was in the World last month, I did not realize I was interested! Yes, stupid. What is the best way to get started from home? I have looked at Pinstore, what other places sell them to a beginner? Any info is appreciated, thanks!

Current, non-limted pins can be bought from mailorder at WDW. I don't have the number, but I'm sure someone elses does. The shipping from Disney is high, though, so you're better off ordering several at the same time (save your pennies) to cut the per pin price down a little.

You can always check out the auctions sites, epecially ebay. Some auctions go pretty high, but some are pretty reasonable, and if you check out the gallery portion, it's like your own little catalog to see what the pins look like that are available.

Just to look for/at pin pic, go to Pinpics! www.pinpics.com. It's a database of over 6000 pins, 99.44% with pics. They have a great search feature to look for a specific pin, character or whatever.

For current pin news and pics, check out Dizpins www.dizpins.com. They have a daily news update, and get pics of new releases from WDW, DL California and DLTokyo usually the same day they're released. They also have a message board, a trade board and a sale board.

Good luck with your collection.

Welcome to pin collecting Kyleally!

I did the same as you.....on my trip in Feb 2000....didn't know I was going to get SO hooked!

MegaShark gave GREAT advice........also to purchase pins.......a few of the other auction sites have them.....you an email me if you like and I will let you know Lynneab@aol.com ..........also.....on the PIN TRADING sub board here.......sometimes pin collectors will offer pins for sale.....we always sell here for cost plus shipping.....
GOOD LUCK!

Try to avoid ebay - you will go broke. My first delve into pin collecting(buying really) was on ebay - well there went the Visa limit.

try dizpins - sometimes people will be selling pins at below cost of just above - good place to start.

I've been able to get awesome pins on ebay. But I would not recommend that for a beginner because you are not sure about whether you're getting a deal or being ripped of.

I do recommend, however, that you get the hang of it. Check out a pin, track it and get a feel for how bidding happens.

I'd also stay away from private websites and online stores because their markup can be outrageous!

Check out the cheappins.com website, they have some tradables for good prices. Buying at cost from collectors is a great way too. Stick aound the board and you'll learn.
