Hey all! :wave2:

I've gotten tons of information from this and the other DVC board, but I have a few questions still. :scratchin I hope you can help!!!

Here are the facts....

-I'm non-DVC, been to WDW 20+ times in last 5 years

-Will be driving from Atlanta

-Deluxe-taste, Moderate budget

-Going to WDW to celebrate my beau's birthday, staying Oct 3-8 (Sunday thru Thursday). His FIRST TRIP...OMG!

-Getting PHPs

OK, so I thought about renting points from DVC'rs b/c I love BW and BC and I can get it for 9 or 12 points a night. So my options...

1. Book a studio:
PROS: renting is usually $10/pt (so at most it costs $120/night, no tax, plus extra $ for housekeeping a couple times), get to stay at a deluxe, have a kitchenette, close to EPCOT, get to see Art again at BC ;)
CONS: have to book asap, can't cancel without losing money or putting a DVC'r out, no daily "free" housekeeping, can't change ressies if better opp comes up

2. Book a Moderate:
PROS: Book now or later, can be on Code-Watch, Security of cancellations should I need it, Moderates are a-ok!
CONS: Its not a deluxe, rates may not go down, I'm no fan of buses or driving, doors on outside...blah, blah, blah

First, do I have my facts right? I feel like renting is the better idea, do you agree? THANKS A BILLION to everyone who answers!

:teeth:

Sounds like a pretty accurate summary.

Here's one more suggestion to confuse you that much more. Instead of a studio, how about a 1 Bedroom at Old Key West? It will run you an extra 6 points ($60) per night, but I can virtually guarantee you will have no need for additional housekeeping. With the addition of an in-room washer and dryer, IMO it's no trouble to toss the towels in the wash if you need a fresh set each day.

And you'll add a little romance to the trip with the full balcony out the back, whirlpool tub, separate living and sleeping quarters, etc. You'd be hard pressed to find better accommodations on-site.

Parking at OKW is right outside of your resort room. You really don't need to worry about bus service, or dealing with a valet to get your car back.

And, given that it's the largest DVC property, you don't need to book OKW nearly as early as you would BCV.

Good luck.

If you are trying to impress your boyfriend, go with the OKW one bedroom. I can guarantee that he WILL be impressed! And you will have paid under $200 for a villa that's probably bigger than most peoples' apartments! A hotel room absolutely will not have the same impact--I refused to buy in until the first time I stayed in a one bedroom, now I live for my next vacation.:p
