Wonder 4 day, December 1st....

I had wanted a relaxing vacation to start with. Some of you will remember that my previous cruising buddy lost her mom and will not be cruising. Well, my friend in FL jumped at the opportunity to sail with us and unfortunately, she had a stroke last week. Hard to believe. She said that NOTHING will stop her from cruising. So now I'm really thinking that relaxation is even more important than before.

I have a 17 month old and 3 year old. What not to miss for them? What not to miss in general. I don't want to feel rushed (like we do at Disney, trying to get everything in), but I don't want to miss the important things.

Thanks!

well...i'm probably a terribly boring person, but for me, just being on the ship was enough...
the only don't miss things for me was dinner (in the rotation restaurants)...
and the evening shows, hercules adnd disney dreams..
also the sailway party and the deck party in nassau were fun...
but for me i just enjoyed walking around the ship....reading on my verandah...looking out at the sea...
as i said...i'm a boring peron..
what was great about the cruise for me was the total relalaxation...
i really don't know what would be a don't miss for wee ones though...maybe someone else will help you with that...

With the ages of your children, I would just stay on the ship, except for CC of course! I would think that staying put would be more relaxing for you too and there is certainly plenty to do. Depending on the weather, I would recommend one caution - the Caribbean sun is HOT, so not only sunscreen, but maybe a Tshirt (long sleeve) would be a good idea if you spend all day on the beach at CC. Tender skin burns so easily!

Don't miss the shows, dinner in the main dining rooms, relaxing by the pools while your kids play, and sitting on the chairs on deck 4.

You will be given your Navigators at night so you can decide then if you want to do anything the next day or just hang out.

My DD8 enjoyed the cruise much more than the parks because we WEREN'T rushing everywhere trying to do everything.

disneyholic, I would never think you were a 'boring' person for not being terribly ambitious while on the ship. Truth be told, if I was going without my children, I would probably have the most fun sitting on deck, soaking up the sun. My home life is so busy, that an ultimate vacation would be just the opposite. That is why the cruise seemed so appealing to me. Unlike the parks, I guessed you could be as busy as you could stand, or as 'lazy' as you desired. I think the ship is a great compromise for parents with young children.

For me, the most relaxing thing was sitting in the lounge chairs that line the deck on the 4th floor and just watching the ocean. With little ones, it might not be the case, but that was so peaceful.

We were actually nodding off in the shows. I think I am way in the minority, but the shows were a low point for us. Next time we'll likely skip even more of those than we did this time. It's not that they were bad, just not "our thing."

As others have written, the dinners were really fun. We only ate lunch once in the restaraunt, usually on deck or Topsiders, but inside that was great. Next time we'll do more eating inside during the day. That was more relaxing, for sure, than the buffet.

I did things that everyone here and those who have gone said were "must sees." I did them not because I necessarily thought they were right for us, but because others had written or said they were great. I should have followed my own instincts. My advice is do what you want, not make a plan, and if an activity doesn't sound like "you", skip it, even if someone else said it was great. It is impossible to do it all. Next time I'll skip more shows, definately pass on the spa, and go to Pinel Island over Dawn Beach if ever at St. Marteen again!:D

Im sure I'll find DH on deck 4 reading his book. Im so glad we had our room changed to deck 5. He just needs to go down 1 flight of steps and walk out the door!
I thoroughly enjoyed both early morn and late evening on the top of NCLs ship. So quiet and relaxing.
