At the animal shelter where I work, we had several dogs come in today. I thought, since it was New Year's Eve, it would be fun to give them names that go along with that. Any ideas? So far, I have:
Eve
Midnight
D.C. (as in Dick Clark)
Champagne
Bubbles

I need a mix of male and female names, all different personalities and colors. None of these dogs came in with names and they really could use a new name to kick of a new year and, hopefully soon, a new family!

Fun! How 'bout:

Tipsy
Prosper
Countdown
Glitter (for the big ball drop)
Lang or Syne (for the Auld Lang Syne song)
Vino
Party

I'm not that creative but I'll try to think of more. I'm editing my post each time of think of a new one!

Janus (Roman god of beginnings and endings, January is named for him.)

These are all awesome! Keep them coming! Totally never would have thought of most of those.

Lombardo.

My Aunt always watched Guy Lombardo on NYE.

My Dad actually suggested Guy and I said "who?" At least now I know he wasn't making it up. HAHA.

I'd love to because I have a BLACK shelter cat named JUNE which drives me nuts because a.) its a people name and b.) June is not a bleak, dark month!

Russian Space Dogs!
Albina
Laika (Like-a) (my dog's name - she'd be happy to share, she's very sweet =p) (Laika was the first dog actually in space and no provisions were made to return her to the ground, so she died in space. I thought it was only right to give my dog the same name to continue on her life in a way.)
Belka
Strelka
Mushka

Others:
Togo (Nancy Drew's dog and the dog that led the sled carrying diptheria vaccines in 1925)
Dakota (search and rescue dog that helped find remains from the Columbia crash)
Ceberus
Sprocket

Totally missed the January part, but you can always save these for another time. =p

Ryan
Seacrest
Rocket (not quite Rockin', but close)
Cracker (for firecracker/fireworks)
Kari (Dick Clark's wife)
K.C. (for Dick Clark's wife)
Yorkie (for New York)

How about Chaos? It's my DD12's German Shepard's middle name-sometimes it should be his first name, just sayin, and New Year's eve is a Chaotic situation, all those people at Times Square?

How about January? (I have a friend with a daughter named this and I love it!)

DD8's list of suggested names:
-Lang (for Auld Lang Syne)
-Midnight
-Eve/Eva
-Firework
-Eleven (for 2011)
-Shooter
-Star

Eleven? I had a dog named Seven once, so makes sense to me. :)
Neo (means New, like New Year)

Oh and will you let us know what you choose? Hope they get new homes and soon!

December
Bubbly
Bubbles
Dom Perignon (how to spell???)
Waterford (isn't the NY Ball made at their factory?)
Confetti
Debbie (my friend Debbie turns 40 today!)
Countdown
Harry
Sally (I keep thinking of the last scene from When Harry Met Sally)
NYE (Pronounced Nyee)
Corky

I really like Midnight.

How about "Promise"? I hope the New Year shows promise for most people and their pets!

you need to have an Eve...that is our dogs name because she was born today!! She is now 2!!
