I was cooking last night and was standing at the stove looking at the skillet and thinking what is wrong with my stove it is not cooking? I kept trying to figure out why my food wasn't cooking or even getting hot..now IO stood there looking at everything for a good 2 mins thinking something was wrong with my stove till I realized I didn't even turn it on???:rolleyes1:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I mean I was really getting upset b/c I was thinking I CAN"T AFFORD A NEW STOVE!!! :rolleyes1

Welcome to the "I've Lost It!" club!

Thanks I think? LOL

I know I have so many things like that I can't begin to remember them all..but the best one I do is go to a room and stand in the door way and not remember why I went there..I did that 3x in one day in the SAME room??? :sad2:

I usually turn on the wrong burner and then wonder why things are taking so long. The light is on, the stove is hot..... oh.... nevermind. (Quick puts the pot on the hot burner....)

Sounds like "The light is on, but nobody's home!"

:rotfl2:

LOL! I have done this with the microwave before! :sad2: :rolleyes1

It's okay. It only took you 2 minutes to notice.

Recently, I was up early and running around. I stopped to put dinner stuff in the crockpot and went back to running around like a mad woman. Five 5!! hours later I'm like huh I'm not smelling any dinner. I remember turning it on. I've walked past the kitchen 10x at least since then. Oh yeah guess it doesn't cook if you don't plug it in.:headache:

I have a double oven. I have more than once turned on the top or bottom oven, and then put the food in the wrong oven. I never notice until the food is supposed to be done. You would really think I would notice it didn't feel hot when I put the food in. :confused3

I've been in your shoes.. done that before... or I've even turned on the burn behind it...and than couldn't understand why the food wasn't cooking... Of course my DS13 was quick to "explain" which knob is for which burner..

And this is the reason that I leave all the cooking to DH!! :thumbsup2

haha I do that all the time. One time I ruined dinner because I put pasta in boiling water and then turned off the stove without thinking, then when the water wasn't boiling and the pasta was hard I couldn't figure out why.

The worst though was when I was yelling at everyone to help me find my sunglasses because I was sure someone had stole them; turns out I was wearing them.

I went to the drive-thru at El Pollo Loco and ordered, drove around to the pick-up window and paid there for it, then drove away.

When I got home 12 minutes later, the car didn't smell like food.

(yeah, I left it at the pick-up window.)

My mom did that with a Paula Deen pundcake once. She couldn't figure out why it wasn't cooking...because the oven wasn't on! I also had a friend trying to cook steak in the drawer under the oven. In this model, that's not where the broiler was- it was just a drawer!:rotfl2:

I've done this. SO embarassing to have to go back to get the food! They said it happens more than you would think! :upsidedow

I did that at Wendy's once, with the kids in the car. They have never let me forget it.

I was driving to work the other day and flipped on the heater. It just wasn't getting warm at all even after about a 15 minute drive. Then I noticed that I had the dial on cool instead of warm. :)

thanks ladies at least I know i'm not the only one...:goodvibes

This reminds me of the lady who was talking to her DH on her cell phone, while also frantically looking for it (the phone!). She finally asked her DH if they could hang up so he could call her and make her phone ring so she could find it. :rolleyes1

As for the turning on the wrong burner thing, I did that preparing lunch today! (and yeah, the "I've lost it" threads on the DIS came to mind! :lmao:)

I couldn't even count how many times I've done something like this... put the wet clothes in the dryer, set the dryer to the right amount of time, and walk out the door -- without pushing the on button; let the dog out and completely forget to let her in; yesterday, my son asked me to bring down a different pair of shorts for him -- I put them on the stairpost and walked down right past them; one time, I made an appointment for my son's school physical, completely forgot about it and went downtown with my friend and her kids! Uh huh, it's called "partsheimers" -- you haven't forgotten all of it, so it's not "alzheimer's" -- you've only forgotten parts of it.
