Resort Thread Walt Disney World SWAN, DOLPHIN & SWAN RESERVE Resorts

Thanks @Dan Murphy didn't think you had, I'd have to believe its not as good as being in Chicago.
The original so-called Chicago deep dish pizza originated at Un0's Pizza in the River North area of Downtown Chicago back in the 40's. Great pizza. Somewhere along the line, they franchised Uno's pizza places. I visited a few while on business trips, not the same, quite different tasting. As of now, I think all those franchised places are gone.

As for Giordano's, there main claim leans more to Chicago stuffed pizza. We've eaten there in Chicago, good pizza. As @Dave006 said above, I would kind of think that other city locations might also not be up to the original here.

Question for anyone who has worked while staying at the Swan: How is the wifi for zoom meetings? My DS-28 is considering staying for the whole week with us in May but he will need to work from the hotel on the Thursday and Friday. I'm assuming that since it is a convention center that shouldn't be an issue.

I teach online, so I have to check-in or have Zoom meetings with my students, even at Disney. I've worked from the Swan/Dolphin/Boardwalk, even during Hurricane Ian, and I've never had any issues at all with speed or connection. Many, many people are working from there, you're exactly right, so I'm sure wifi is a priority for the hotels. Your son should be in good shape!

That's exactly what he needed to hear! Thank you!

Are there any good public spots to take work calls? I’m going to need to work on my check in and check out days, hopping to find a spot while I’m room-less.

Absolutely! Walking across to the Dolphin may be better for that just because of the huge convention area. I've set up my laptop and held zooms from some of the little alcoves in the Dolphin convention center more than once when my kiddos were getting ready for the parks and the room was too noisy.

Awesome thank you!!

@mickey916 you got great input from @Karalee402 already. I’ll add that in the past, not sure right now after refurbs and such, but they had an Ethernet option as well - I can’t recall if it was Swan only or not. You might ask via their App and the Text Us! feature, that could be a good option if the WiFi should be having issues.

Thanks! I will look into that as well.

Saw a good price at the Swan and almost booked it until I added the extra $90 per night for resort and parking fee:eek: $630 more for 7 nights was a big deal breaker.
What price did you see and for what time period? Compared to what alternative(s) and do you rent a car or drive to the resort?

While I agree it's not great to have to pay the resort and parking fees, when I was booking my trip the total cost was comparable to a Moderate Disney resort. For me, the location and deluxe amenities at less than what I would pay at POFQ was worth it. That being said, I do wish they would just lump the resort fee into the actual quoted price, instead of having it listed separately.

S/D often comes in the best, even with the extra fees. And as you said, the location and amenities are great!!

They do since you have an option when searching the Marriott availability. You are able to turn it on and off very easily with the Show with taxes and fees near the top right of the Select a Room and Rate. Show with taxes and fees check box!

True! But mentally I just like it added in without having to click it! In general I guess I don't really get "resort fees"...

Yeah, never consider Swolphin quotes “real” until all the fees are added in. They are dynamically priced though so maybe check back in and see if prices drop before your trip.

Prices are absolutely dynamic - I booked my trip for March 10-14 in early September and received a price of $358 per night all in - I checked back on the Marriott website about 3 weeks later and the same room was $305 per night all in. I tried to modify on the app and couldn't - I didn't want to cancel and rebook because I already gave a deposit so I called and they were able to adjust my reservation to the new price.

Well after many years of staying at the Swan I finally got a chance to stay at the Dolphin. All I can say is that the Dolphin really is a superior resort in so many ways and is very impressive inside and out...but I did not like it compared to the Swan. Something just didn't feel as "right" as my Swan stays, can't put my finger on it but I guess I can officially say I'm team Swan lol.
