We normally hire a Limo to take us from MCO to our resort and back - it's the easiest, fasted most enjoyable way to go, unfortunately after a recommendation from our daughter, we took the Magical Express instead which took exactly 2 hours to get to our resort from the time our plane landed.

Behind on our schedule, we decided to grab a quick bite/late lunch at Capt. Cook's prior to heading to the MK. Another mistake. We ordered our food, found a table outside and then waited and waited and waited, finally I got up walked inside and immediately saw our tray of food sitting on the counter with no one around, waiting to be delivered to our table. I picked it up and went to our table.

By this time, we were running late for our first FP. After hustling across the park we made it to Space Mountain just in time, got into the FP line, got to the control office where the line splits and the ride went down. After waiting in line for about 30 minutes, listening to multiple announcements about delays in restarting the attraction, they finally took it completely down and we had to leave. They did scan our magic bans with a FP that could be used at any attraction during the next 3 days though.

A couple days later we did go back to the MK, and on our way out of the park for dinner back at our resort, we decided to use the FP we had been given a couple of days earlier and guess what, the ride was down again. We told a cast member about our situation and he gave us a paper FP that could be used at any attraction any time. We eventually did get to ride SM during the Christmas Party and on our last day.

During our stay:
Space Mt. was down twice;
the Monorail was down twice (mid-day);
Splash Mt. was down for an extended time one morning - took several hours for it to come up;
Test Track was down for an extended time one morning - waited over an our for it to open;

And what good is staying at a Monorail Resort when we tried to go to MK an hour before opening, which was 9:00 am, and was told that the Monorail didn't run until 9:00 am.

I'm sorry that you had issues but really none of them are that big in my opinion.
You probably just see them as big since most occurred on your arrival day getting your trip off to a rough start.

You should expect DME to take anywhere from 45-90 minutes although I've heard that in the last few weeks people have been reporting it to take longer than they would have expected for this time of year.
I've never been on DME longer than 60 minutes and have always had a great relaxing experience.
If you are used to a limo then perhaps you should have not taken your daughter's recommendation. Lesson learned for the future I guess.

I've never eaten at Capt. Cook's so I'm not sure how they operate. You make it sound as though they hand deliever and if that is the case I'm sorry you had to seek it out yourself.

As for attractions being down it's unfortunate but should be expected when the rides are operating 365 days per year and 12-18 hours per day.
You did not have to stand in line at Space Mountain if you did not want to.
You could have simply gone back later when it was open.

I am a local and the traffic is terrible on a regular basis but with the holidays and all the road construction on I-4 which is never-ending, and the complete mess up buy universal and the million people who visit daily its, adding in us locals who are out Christmas shopping and living our lives here... Its beyond awful... Normally it takes me about 20 to go to my local Target yesterday it took 45 minutes,,,, crazy

After looking at a few other threads from this poster I found that it was the very fluke extremely long DME line at MCO that was the hold up.
That is not the norm at all so its unfortunate that their first experience had to be that odd ball day.
But still if they are used to a limo service taking recommendations from their daughter was not the best idea.

Totally agree on the limo service advice... Now they know isn't for them and won't make the same mistake again.
