We got back from our trip on Christmas Day
. The laundry has finally been done. The souveniers have all been put away. I even put the refillable mugs from Pop away in the cupboard. We've gone back to work and school. So the trip and the vacation are really over!
But wait....on 12/21, we went to DTD and visited the Art of Disney store. We have been collecting animation cels for several years and decided to buy one if we saw one we really wanted. (Animation cels are pictures of scenes from animated movies. Some are specially drawn pictures that didn't actually appear in movies. Most are produced in limited quantities which makes them true collector's items.)
We spotted one right away that we loved, but we figured it had to be too expensive. The average cel price is usually anywhere from $275 - $400. But some can run into the thousands! We spotted one on the wall that was a picture of Walt Disney reading a Snow White book to some characters. Standing around him are Mickey, Baloo, Pooh and Cinderella. Gathered at his feet are several dalmation puppies and there's one sleeping in his lap. It's such as beautiful picture and the smile on Walt's face is priceless! The price wasn't visible so we asked a CM how much it cost. As soon as he turned it over and we saw the price, we both said, "We'll take it!"
It was only $345 (nice price by cel standards!). We had it shipped home since the carton would be way too big to take on the plane.
So yesterday, just as I was feeling like the magic was really over, Walt arrived via UPS. He was nicely packaged and in perfect condition. Now we look at Walt and his friends everyday!!!
