Yes, definitely the shops on Route 192. We stay off property and our rental homes are always right there by Rt. 192. Rt. 192 runs east/west on the south side of WDW. There are endless gift shops that run along that stretch. They will have all kinds of either Disney "knock off" (i.e. not made by Disney) stuff or official WDW things that were discontinued/clearanced. Rt 192 also goes by the name of W. Irlo Bronson Memorial Highway, if you're looking on the Google map. There is a Target right near the intersection of Rt 192 and Rt 535. It's maybe 10 minutes from Disney, if that. Unlike some of the local Wal-Marts, it's not as crowded as MK on Christmas Day. The crowd is light and the store is always clean (local Wal-Marts are horrid). They have Disney merchandise, and it's also a full service grocery store. Great place to grab needed food, toiletries, sunscreen, etc...
However, our favorite gift shop is on Rt. 535, which runs north/south just to the east of WDW. It's called Bargain World, it's directly across the street from the Sheraton Lake Buena Vista Resort hotel. It has a Dunkin Donuts/Baskin Robbins attached to it. They have plenty of Disney themed stuff from clothes, to autograph books, figures and other souveniers. My wife has bought several shirts there, and I think our kids have too. They also sell genuine Disney pins at a serious discount. They're typically older pins that have been discontinued, but you can get them for $4-$6 each, or they have packs of 7 for like $20. It's family tradition at least once a trip to take the kids to Dunkin for dessert, then go next door and get something from that gift shop. We've been going there for at least 6 years now. One other nice thing is that it's right outside the entrance to Disney Springs. If you leave the gift shop and turn right out of the parking lot, the second light is Hotel Plaza Blvd. Turn right and a mile later you're at Disney Springs.
