I'm not a frequent Walmart shopper but have gone there a few times in the last month or so, so I might as well add the Savingscatcher app to my phone along with the others we've talked about. Can you experts please give me the quick and easy tips I need to make it work? Thanks :)

I've saved about $500 using it over the past year but most of that was when they were doubling. I just scan every receipt. I read all of the circulars closely and make a list if I don't want to go to several different stores. I also sometimes try something if I'm not sure it will work the first day of the sale and if it does I go back and get more. Right now I've been using it a lot because I've been getting $100 walmart gift cards for $70 with my Amex offers.

I have been using the savings catcher app since March and I have $40 dollars sitting in my account. Now that may not sound like alot, but I am a one stop shopper and I buy items that I would normally buy. It is always a great little surprise when I see I get money back for buying exactly what I wanted or needed to begin with. I plan on saving mine until Christmas and then turn it into a egift card. I also print out coupons on coupon mom and use them with items I am buying. If the product is on sale somewhere else that week you still get the savings even if you have used a coupon! It is a wonderful app if you shop at Walmart and for me they get all my spare money every week!

Is Savings Catcher only for grocery items? I usually get everything at Kroger and will only run into Wal-mart when I need some random item, so I didn't know if Savings Catcher would even be beneficial for me.

Groceries, consumables (e.g., paper towels), and health and beauty. No produce or weighed meat/deli.

Like you, I don't go there a lot, but it is a free app so I thought I might as well try it. Of all the savings apps I use, it is the easiest and quickest, but it's not going to make me rich. I started in Nov. 2014 and have $7.50 in my account--almost enough for two Mickey bars! :rotfl:

You can only redeem for a Walmart ecard. I've had mine for a little bit and don't have much on it, but I scan every receipt. I figure it's because it compares to local stores and we don't have a lot of local stores to compare to.

I cash mine out to Bluebird (Walmart Bucks). You can send $0.01 to Bluebird. Also last year Bluebird was eligible for Amex's Small Business Saturday promo.

I have not had very good luck with the app. I'm not getting the sale prices on many items. I email them, they respond that it's not on sale. I send a copy of the ad to the email address they tell me to, I get a response that it's not on sale. If you return food, they will give you your money back but they throw it all away. I understand why and would keep it if they honored their price match policy. From now on, I price match everything at the register. It takes longer, but I'm assured that I get the price I'm expecting.

Also, the app will not catch prices for produce, meat, deli or general merchandise but they will match them at the register.

I use it but I'm definitely not getting rich at it! I think I've got about $19 in there and that's after several months of use. Just doesn't add up quickly for me and we have several stores to price match against.

Scanned the receipt from last week when I did a bunch of snack and toiletry shopping there; got an email saying I got $1.62 back. Cool! So, how does it work, they look at items that are on sale somewhere else that week, so if I went next week, it would be different items that might show up?

Yes. It's based on what's on sale at local stores (excludes pharmacies). Each week when the new circulars come out (some for sales starting Wednesday others for sales starting Sunday) I review them carefully and make a list and decide if it's worth going to the store or if I should just add the sale item to my Walmart list.

I find it generally frustrating.
I have about $2 from last Christmas plus 84 cents from something recent. I told it to issue me a credit and it assigned me a gift card. I don't have a physical gift card so the checkout lady said I have to use it online. Last week I tried to use it online and it says I have no balance on the gift card number they gave me so I'm concerned that somebody else stole my giftcard number and now I just don't get my credit. People in the store were no help at all, I'm really not a fan of how it is set up.

You can use egift cards in the store. Just pull them up on your phone.

There are no tips, really. All you do is scan your Walmart receipts with the app and it will decide whether or not to give you any "money back". LOL

I very rarely shop at Walmart and I've only earned about $4 since the app came out which was probably almost 2 years ago (just a guess). Basically the only items I purchase there is toothpaste (they at least carry Tom's of Maine toothpaste) when I forgot to order more online or the occasional birthday card so it's not like they'll price match that kind of stuff. Occasionally we'd buy soda and it would give us money back sometimes for that but we haven't purchased that type of item in over a year. If you buy a lot of processed foods it'd probably be great for you...otherwise, you probably won't earn much. :)

I got like 6.00 something during doubling period they had and transferred to bluebird card. I have gotten money from candy bar, 2 liters of soda, shampoo. stuff I buy at walmart anyway or just pure luck, most has been stuff hubs has bought on quick run in after work stop. I don't use app I just do from computer at home. and I don't make special trip usually, 1 time I bought at walmart since I was there and knew soda was on sale else where but didn't want to make another stop.

Same here on my sale prices. I just decide if it is worth visiting the sale store. I live in a small town so most stores are close to my local WM. I have over $56 and look on it as found money if I get anything back. I am using mine at Christmas to purchase a game for my son.

99% of our shopping is done at a super Walmart. We are 2 stop shoppers lol one at Walmart and one at Costco. I scan every receipt into the savings catcher... even my kids give me their receipts... In a year we have saved $75 in addition to coupons we may have. I like that i can add it to a Gift card towards Christmas and use it towards shopping. To each their own, I know people who wouldn't clip or use a coupon if it were to save their life. I know people that only shop at Target. Its a preference. I like Walmart and if I can save a little money, I'm ok with that too.

We live in a small town, the nearest Walmart is about a half hour away. I have scanned receipts for about six months finally got to about $21. Last week when they had their "Black Friday in July sale" I cashed it in and got my kiddos 3 pairs of shorts each for the start of school. I only spent an extra $10 for all of it. Now we have to start back over on the saving.
