Walmart Plus annual membership 50% off currently....

Popped in Walmart yesterday .... their Member line was completely empty with a rope across it. 🤣 Members had to use the commoner check out lanes.

what is the advantage to it vs. just shopping the traditional way with them?

Dad and I have Walmart+ because we were able to get membership half off. For us, it allows for orders of any amount much like Amazon Prime. We order much more on Amazon, but Walmart is handy too. The closest Walmart store to us is almost an hour away. Target is less than ten minutes away. Walmart has a few things we are only able to get there. Happy and good deal shopping to all. Sweet Dreams tonight, too :)

I use it for same day delivery from our local store. For me it's great for heavier items like 40 lb boxes of cat litter, big bags of bird seed, etc. The free shipping has more than paid for what I paid for membership. I like getting Paramount+ free too. I can get things within hours instead of waiting 2 days for an Amazon delivery.

I think the various benefits are listed in the link in the OP.

thanks. no walmarts with gas stations near us and they also won't do home delivery so i guess i will just continue to wait till i have $35 in purchases to get the free shipping :teeth: i have to say-if you have an otc card with a medicare or other insurance plan walmart makes it VERY easy to use. plug the information in where they store credit card information and ANYTHING you order that is covered by it will default to that card for payment.

When I went there and looked for the half off, it only said that the half off was for those on government assistance. Am I missing something?
Looks like the discount is over. I think it was to attract new customers during Prime Days.

Why haven't they just gotten rid of the check out lanes all together? You should be able to scan your phone when you enter and then just walk out and get automatically charged for your purchases.

Well, I imagine there will be a large enough customer base that this is not in their wheelhouse. They need another human checking them out. AND Walmart keeps changing self check out because they are getting ripped off by customers.

The Walmart I went to change their setup almost every time I go (not often). The Members lane was closed and now they have the self service and cashier lines using the same queue ... why??? and it was a bit chaotic.

I'm saying they should get rid of all of the check out lanes. Not convert them to self check out lanes. Walmart should be able to detect when you put a product into your cart and then charge you for it.

I understand but that’s a system that will cost LOTS on their end OR they depend on customers scanning which I think is above most customers skill level. Our Kroger tried the scan as you put in cart and it failed.

Yes any system that requires the customer to scan is not going to work. The system should be able to scan items as you pull the item off of the shelf.

I wish I could use it. Mine has a few months left. I would gladly renew it for half price, I am on the fence about renewing at full price. It really is nice though being able to get stuff from Walmart and not go into the store.
