Hello, I was wondering if anyone has ever used Mears Transportation to get from a Disney Resort hotel to the Walmart on Vineland? I have looked online and it seems like it is about $13.00 each way with a luxury sedan. Does anyone know if that is a flat rate or if it goes higher if we get stuck in traffic? Also does anyone know if there is a liqour store attached to the Walmart? I know I have been in a Walmart in another part of Orlando and they did have a small one on the side of it (on the outside of the building). Also does anyone know if you have to book ahead online or if you can just do it at the front desk? We would prefer not to use a taxi as the price would get very high sitting in traffic. Any help would be appreciated!:goodvibes

I can't really answer your questions because it is nothing we have considered or looked in to. If you are looking for beer you can take the bus to Downtown Disney and get off at the second stop (Pleasure Island) and right across the street there is a Hess station which sells beer. There is also a Hess station close to the Boardwalk hotel.

Thanks for the reply. We have looked at that idea and also garden grocer but our older brother would prefer to get rum and they only carry beer due to laws down there.

I know, I know, Pick MEEEeeeeeeEEEE!

I took a Taxi from POR last June (no reservation, just had bell services hail one of the cabs waiting at the resort.) at around 5 pm to this Walmart (SR 535 3250 Vineland rd. Kissemee FL) and with tip it was around $20. I then went grocery shopping and they did have a nice liquor and beer selection at this Walmart location, in the store. The produce was also fairly good and I liked being able to pick up other things like an iced tea maker and sandals for the one son who forgot his.

I called the Mears taxi when I was done with check out and a cab came in about 15 minutes to take me back to POR.

Be sure and use Mears Taxi's as many people have reported problems with bait and switch pricing when using gypsy cabs. The number I have for Mears owned cabs 1 407 422-2222. Enter this number in your cell phone and you are good to go when calling for a cab. Often times these are the cabs waiting at the resorts to transport you from place to place. Be sure to check and see that the information on the outside of the cab identifies it as a Mears company as they are welcomed in Disney property and are legitimate with their rates. Talk with the Bell services CM's and if they are knowledgeable (and that's a big IF) they can fill you in on the deal with the cabs.

I would not hesitate taking a cab back and forth to this Walmart again for my next trip. The Walmart prices were not jacked up like those in the surrounding resort supermarkets, the selection and variety were good and taking the cab back and forth was no where near the problem I was worrying that it would be.
