Walmart Black Friday ad was just published, but since the stores locally are open 24 hours, when will the BF sale start? Can you be inside waiting for the time, or are they going to close just before the sale starts? Anyone know?

I think it depends on your store.:confused3 Ours stays open all night, you can walk around and find out where the things you want are located, you just can't get them and put them in your cart until the sale actually starts at 5:00am. They have the stuff on pallets, and have some employees watching them, so no one cheats and gets the stuff too soon.:rolleyes1
I have heard others say that their store closes, and they have to wait outside until they open at 5:00am. I would just call the store you want to go to, and double check with them, to be sure.:thumbsup2

As I understand it ALL stores are going to be open prior to the 5 am sale start. People will be able to stand around the items they want and wait for the sale to begin. This is to avoid the massive rush of people as the store opens.

I believe this is true as one of their employees was killed last year. So I won't even go to bed after Thanksgiving dinner, I'll go to WalMart and hang out, well maybe a short cat nap first!!!

After last years sad incident, they will be taking even more precautions than they have in the past to keep everyone in line and orderly. While things may be out prior to 5 am, you won't be able to put them in your basket. It wouldn't hurt to go in and make a game plan where things are located while you wait for 5 am. I know at one of our local Wal-Marts, people made lines in the certain sections that had what they wanted. For a t.v. for example, they'd form a line where the pallets of TVs are. I think it just depends on your Wal-Mart.

Our Walmart has lines for the bigger items. For example, all electronics are right by the deli at the back of the store. If you want any electronics you must get in the line that winds through all the grocery aisles, so people may get there hours in advance and get in line.

The other items are located on pallets throughout the store. They are wrapped up, so you can't get into the items, but there is a map so you know where to go for the particular item you're looking for. An employee tears open the wrapping at 5 and hands the items to people in the order they arrived.

I've gone twice and it was actually a fairly pleasant, well organized experience. I can't imagine if they made everyone wait outside and then had a mad rush for the items when they opened the doors. :scared:

last yr I went to my store and got there about 3 am I think. They are 24 hrs and was open. They had a rope around the main isles so you can walk down a isle and stand there and look at the pallets but not got to them. The main thing was that some how the rope fell a few min. early so they were not totally ready. But overall it wasn't too bad. i was able to get the stuff I needed. I think I am going to go there again b/c right now they have what I want.

Our local paper said that WM was going to let us in the store, but then take us to areas of the store to wait, like a holding area. :confused3

How do you know what BF stuff will be available online? Last year I was on the computer buying stuff at 5 AM at walmart.com, but I don't remember how much of the ad was available online.

Yes all stores are supposed to be open 24 for BF. This year there will be a map published online & @ the store specifically telling you where big items will be in the store - ie. tvs, computers so that you dont have to wander the store looking for the items - since a tv could be in garden center or in grocery. there will be a letter (ABC) corresponding to each item on a ballon/sign there. Items will be on pallets still wrapped in black plastic wrap & an associate will hand over the item.

I was there last year - arrived around 3 am - but Im in a rather small city...but I got what I needed no problem -but if you are after more than 1 hot item you need to take more than one person with you so you can divide & conquer or you'll never be able to get both items

An article I read online said that stores will be open all night and that you wait
"in line" by the item you want and they will "had them out" in order that you arrived, at 5am on Friday.
