How far of a walk is it form Beach Club to HS? I just found out the Friendship boat will not be in operation during our trip.

About a mile. (They will be running special buses during the boats' absence.)

It's a really lovely walk, on a pretty sidewalk away from traffic and next to the water. We always choose to walk rather than take the boats, and really enjoy it. Of course, if a person has mobility issues, obviously that advice is useless! But if you're pretty mobile, I highly recommend walking.

We like the walk & sometimes when the line for the boat is long it's just as quick back to the BC / YC.

If you want to check out what the walk actually looks like, search "walk from Boardwalk to Hollywood Studios" on YouTube. There are lots of videos to choose from!

If someone can't walk a mile, I'd hope they would have a mobility device with them?

The boats are painfully slow (especially because they stop at Swan and Dolphin after BC/YC. We always walked when we stayed at BC. Of course it was October so not too hot.

It's a lovely run in the morning too. As someone that lives in a hilly area I found the flat route fun - I felt fast! Lol.

I'm going to go against the grain and say I hate that walk. It's the longest 20 min of your trip. I don't know what it is about it, but it goes on and on and on and on. I swear they move the park while I'm walking! And on the way back, after a day at HS, well, that mile becomes about 5 miles.
I have no problems at all with the walk from MK to CR or the walk from IG to BW but never do the walk from BW to HS. The boats are faster without question. We usually take it to Swan/Dolphin and hop off and walk from there.

Could you tell us more about these buses? Would they get you closer to the world showcase?

We had planned a day or two of hopping between HS and Epcot but the normal buses drop you off in front of Epcot.

We stayed at the BC on our last trip, we beat the boat while walking every time, and our youngest were 4 and not in strollers.

It's always faster to walk actually. One trip we tested it out. I boarded the boat and DH and DGD started to walk to YC as we pulled out on the boat. They were in the room at YC before I got to the dock at YC.

Just last week we left IG to walk to BW and a boat pulled away from the IG dock. We were walking in the door at BW before the boat docked at BW.

There was one trip where we did the walk from IG to HS and there happened to be boat leaving IG as we started the walk. I'll preface that I walk slow (much to DH's dismay). We still made it to the DS gates before the boat even made it in to view from HS

I wish I liked the walk though. Maybe I'll give it another trip on our next trip, since I think the boats will still be out

The buses are not going to get you near the WS. They'll drop you where all the other buses drop you, in front. There's no bus stop near WS. You could always bus from HS to either BC or BWI though, and then walk to IG

I didn't think so but there is always hope. LOL

I read on another thread, people saying they will take the bus to BC, then walk to Epcot.

We will be traveling with a sit and stand and a wheelchair. The boats were just easier to use. I'm thinking we may end up walking.

To me it seems the buses at the front of Epcot are about a mile away from the entrance gate.

Oh how I miss those express buses.

The OP (horse11) asked about the boat between Beach Club and DHS.
My response was that they will be running special buses between Beach Club and DHS during the
time the Friendships will be down.

There's no reason to offer a bus from Beach Club to the IG
(which they COULD do, if they wanted to, BTW. There is a bus stop at the IG.)
But, it is actually a very short walk from Beach Club to the IG.
Shorter than between many popular in-park attractions.

about 15 minutes walk- I love the walk personally..... last trip my DH kept taking the boat,I always walked... from both parks, either direction, he never got there faster than me walking. I don;t walk very fast either.

We just stayed at the BC and walked to HS. It was a flat and pleasant 20 minute walk. Maybe quicker than the boat. I will say that we walked back to the BC in the middle of the day for a break. The sun was at its hottest. The walk felt much longer at that time. No shade.

You can also cut some steps from the walk by cutting through the BW hotel pool area from the walkway to further down on the BW.

I was hoping there could be a bus from DHS to IG.

Side story, some years ago we were waiting for a boat at IG to go to DHS. Wait seemed really long. A family start talking among themselves that that are going to miss their ADR at ....wait for it......Cape May. At that moment, about a dozen people told them, IT'S RIGHT THERE. YOU CAN WALK IN 5 MIN. They had no idea.

That's a good point. I am thinking of some of my family members who do get around OK, but the parks themselves pretty much use up their energy. The parks can be a lot of walking for someone who might have health issues such as back pain or muscle weakness. They can get through the park day, but wouldn't be looking to add additional walking before and after.

Yup. They absolutely could run one if they wanted to.
Backstage bus route to the IG is shown below.
