We are staying at the Swan in the Boardwalk area. Our first evening we're going to the MVMCP at the Magic Kingdom. If we want to take the monorail from the front of Epcot, is it possible to walk to Epcot's World Showcase entrance, NOT enter the park (our park hoppers start the next day), and skirt around to the other entrance for the monorail? Would this entail walking through the middle of the parking lot?

Nope, it's not possible. That's the one bad thing about staying at those resorts (YC/BC, S/D and BW). If you want to go to the front entrance of Epcot it's a very long walk and you have to use park pass to do it.

There's not an alternate path that I know of. You'd be better off just sticking to the bus, I think!

Even if there were a path to the monorail without entering Epcot, it'd be one heck of a long walk. You'll get to MK much faster on the bus.

Bummer. Thanks for the quick replies though.
If your goal is to ride the monorail to Magic Kingdom for MVMCP instead of riding the bus,you could walk or take the Friendship boat to Disney/MGM Studios and take the Epcot bus from there. It will take you to the front entrance at Epcot close to the monorail station. :)

Yep, that is longer, but it will get you on the monorail, and with minimal walking.

We have done the walk through Epcot thing and its not that bad of a walk. One thing to consider is if you have magic your way tix, additional days can be very inexpensive, as low as $2 each, depending on how many days you already have purchased. If you really want to ride the monorail from Epcot to MK, you might want to consider adding a day if that is an option for you. It would be faster than going the boat/bus/monorail route.

Just a suggestion, in the event you hadn't considered it.

You could take the ferry over to MGM and then catch a bus to The Contemporary and then you could walk over to The Magic Kingdom.

We just walked from the Yacht Club the other day through Epcot to take the monorail "just for fun". It took us (me adn 13 yo) about 15 minutes to get to the front entrance. It's not a bad walk at all, if you ask me.
