Hi All - It's my first time on this part of the Boards, so I hope this isn't a duplicate - I figure I'm not the first person to have this idea!
In preparation for our WDW trip next May, I am going to walk/run to Disney - or at least the same number of miles! Figured it out - it is 993 miles from my house to AKL. Based on what I've done so far, I'll need to average 2.98 miles each day to get there.
I've also made some fun milestones - when I cross into a state, when I hit a major city, etc... I'm thinking of rewarding myself for each milestone. For instance, when I hit the Maryland state border (only 20 miles to go!) I'm going to make crabcakes; when I get to the beach I'll buy a new bathing suit, etc...
I'm using MapMyRun to track how far I walk/run, and I've been trying to get walks in throughout the day, even if it's just around the block. To keep myself motivated, I'm tracking everything in an Excel spreadsheet that automatically tells me how many miles there are to go.
So - has anyone else done this? Does anyone have tips? I'll be checking in every now and so that I stay accountable!
