Are there any members walking reservations for Thanksgiving 2009 or are planning to do so for Christmas 09, because of the new booking policy? It was a major issue with many member on these boards several months ago. Is it still a big concern?

Curious as well as to how people have been faring getting what they want. We are now into booking season for the summer. Past booking for spring vacations, Memorial Day, Fourth of July. Has anybody had trouble getting what they wanted under the new system. We'll be making reservations in a few weeks for our annual post Turkey Day trip and I'm wondering if I should be as worried as everyone was a few months ago.

Would someone be willing to fill me in on the specifics of "walking" a reservation? I have a vague knowledge of what you mean, but I should probably know more before the need arises. Thanks!

I would also like to know. There doesn't seem to be any posts from people who have been having troubles getting AKV concierge like there used to be. All the AKV concierge posts I have seen lately are members getting the reservations they want.

Well I'm afraid you missed my post. No Concierge calling at 11 months for beginning of Nov.

It's the same as calling "day-by-day" for reservations, but in reverse. You book the week ahead of the week you want to block someone from taking the day at the start of your trip. Then when you get to the day you want, you cancel the week that you didn't really want anyway. Only thing is you have to have enough points to book 2 weeks.

As long as you cancel the week you don't want right after you get the one you do, you really haven't prevented anyone from booking a trip, you've just put them on hold for a week or 2.

I just booked the second week of November without any trouble. It was for 8 nights so I actually called at 11 months and 1 day.

I don't think as many people want the second week of November as Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day and NYE. When people start to call for Dec 31 through Jan 6, I think there is going to be a lot of wailing.

I think the test is going to come when people begin booking for Thanksgiving, '09. Some people may have already begun that process by walking. We'll see, won't we?
