Walking on the Boardwalk and Snoozing at the Grand!

The last day of our trip was a day full of dress code violations. ;)

We went to the lounge that evening for some appetizers before our big meal at Narcooses. The appetizers were great, as usual. They had a whiskied shrimp thing, and a beef thing. Sorry, I can’t get more technical than calling them “things” They had some very fancy hors d’ouvres with names that I couldn’t pronounce. :)

I was kind of shocked when I noticed a woman and her two older children at the table getting their plates. The kids were older as in about 8 or 9 years old. The shocking part was that the kids were not wearing any shoes. That’s right, they were barefoot with nary a flip flop in sight. I watched them when they sat down to eat, and they didn’t even have them under the table. I watched one of the staff members going up to the table, but she was just engaging in chit chat. No one said a word about the lack of shoes.

The second dress code violation happened when we went to dinner at Narcooses. Now that restaurant has a dress code, with no cut off, ripped jeans etc allowed.

I was stressing over that, since Ben just had a clean black t-shirt and a pair of beige shorts to wear. John had a dress shirt (since he wears a lot of those normally) and of course I had a nice dressy outfit.

Well, I needn’t have worried. :rolleyes1 We checked in and sat down to wait, and in walked a family wearing – you guessed it – an assortment of pool cover-ups, flip flops, fashion ripped jeans on the older woman, and cutoff jean shorts on the two teenaged girls. The one girl was wearing burgundy undies. Just ask me how I know!

Then in came a nicely dressed couple, and then a few more families who were distinctly underdressed. As we were being seated I jokingly said to the hostess “I thought there was a dress code here?” She replied “oh there is – and we enforce it if we see violations of it” Uh right…..

Well after dinner, which wasn’t as good as Jiko IMO, John and I changed and went to MK to catch the parade (finally!) and Wishes. MSEP was not as I remembered it, but I think the music was. I still like Spectro better, but did manage to cry during most of MSEP. :flower3: It brought back a lot of memories. Like I said, I think it was the music. We saw Wishes on Main Street and then headed back to GF to pack.

Well that wraps up another trip. On the whole the trip was good, despite all of the problems we had. None of the problems added up to make it a bad trip. I was a little sad though knowing my run of four trips a year was over. :sad1:

Since we bought a cottage in July, I will only be able to go once a year. (Well twice, but don’t tell DH!) I’m also going to have to stop staying CL for a while too. Since January of this year we have stayed at BWI CL twice, GF RPC and AKL CL and also Poly CL. That’s a lot of spoiling for one year! Good thing I don’t mind staying at POP or the mods, eh? ;)

On the whole I would have to give GF RPC a 9 out of 10. The room was a little on the dusty side. Not in obscure places, but in obvious places where you shouldn’t see dust as a guest. I did come to love the smell of the lobby almost as much as the smell of the Poly’s lobby. The room size was wonderful, and I appreciated being able to get dressed by the hamper out of sight of the kids. The closet though was way too small, so all of our luggage had to sit in the front hall area.

The friendliness of the staff was very welcome, and I really appreciated their help and their courtesy. :goodvibes I liked the huge ginormous room we had, but was a little sad that wherever I sat, either in the room or the lounge I was looking straight at the Poly. I really do love that resort. :cloud9:

If I could combine the CL and the pools at GF, with the tropical foliage and the rooms at the Poly, and the staff from BWI CL I would be in absolute resort heaven. Oh, and I’d have to add AKL in there too somehow. :upsidedow

So that's it!

We packed up and headed for the Auto Train and then home.

THE END
