I posted this on the WISH boards and have gotten a few great ideas, but there isn't much traffic there so I pose this to you all!

I am looking for upbeat music to download onto my iPod for walking. I am not really into Rap, but everything else is fine.

Also besides iTunes where can I download that is safe, honest, etc?

Thanks!!!

Journey music always seems to put a bounce in my step, especially "Be Good to Yourself". Also, Duran Duran's greatest hits get my blood pumping.

I downloaded a workout playlist from Itunes that I really like. It's called Total Workout Cardio-The Basics. It's got songs like We Like to Party, Pump up the Jam, Because of You, I Like to Move it, and Let's get it Started. They use the party mix versions so the bass is really pumping and it keeps me moving!

Some of my favorites -these are very eclectic (leaving out the rap ones):
Come on Eileen -Dexys Midnight runners
Black Horse and the Cherry Tree -KD Turnstall
Play that Funky Music -Wild Cherry
Drop it on Me -Ricky Martin
Reel Around the Sun -Riverdance
Amazing Grace -Drop Kick Murphys
Im a Believer -Smashmouth
anything by ABBA
A Little Less Conversation -Elvis

I never listened to music while running/walking, but I sure wanted to! If I had an iPod I sure would have! The music I wanted to hear was pretty much Linkin Park, a LOT of good music on those albums. :thumbsup2

This is my walking playlist, I call it Treadmill Tracks:

Got them all from iTunes

1. I see you Baby (Fatboy Slim Remix) by Groove Armada
2. Satisfaction by Benny Bennassi & the Biz
3. I need more love by Robert Randolph and the Family Band
4. Weird Science by Oingo Boingo
5. Let's get loud by Jennifer Lopez
6. I like the Way(Radio Edit) by Body Rockers
7. Looking for you by Kirk Franklin
8. Feel Good Inc by Gorillaz
9. Seperate Ways by Journey
10. Short Skirt/Long Jacket by Cake
11. Surfin Bird by the Trashmen
12. Jump in the Line by Harry Belafonte

This has been my walking list for a while and I am always looking for good walking tunes, so I am anxious to hear what other people have to offer.

The one song that immediately comes to mind is:

Steppenwolf--Magic Carpet Ride

Just thinking about this song puts a spring in my step. I'm not crazy about the song, all in all, but it does make me want to move!

Here is some of what I listen to on my iPod while on the treadmill...

Living in America- James Brown
Shout to the North - Robin Mark
Let It Ride - BTO
Crazy - Gnarls Barkley
Never Been Any Reason - Head East
Comfortably Numb - Roger Waters (live version)
Shipping Up to Boston - Dropkick Murphys
Running on Empty - Jackson Browne
Stranger in a Strange Land - Leon Russell
Mighty Quinn Medley - Leon Russell
Jumpin Jack Flash/ Youngblood medley -Leon Russell
Higher - Creed
Turn me Loose -Loverboy
Like Dreamers Do - Radiators
Roll with the Changes - REO Speedwagon
Blessed Be Your Name - Robin Mark
Come Sail Away - Styx
867-5309 - Tommy Tutone
The Indifference of Heaven - Warren Zevon
Lawyers, Guns, and Money - Warren Zevon
What If His People Prayed - Casting Crowns
Long Train Running - Doobie Brothers

Ya'll are so great!!! Thanks!!!!

I walk 6 miles almost daily and some of the music that keeps me going.....I have 2 playlists on my ipod, and some of the music includes,
Poison
The Cult
Bob Segar
Def Leopard
And I always throw REO's Keep Pushing into the middle to give me a little motivation,
When you make a playlist for walking I like to put music in there with a good beat and then throw a slower one in now and then to give me a rest!
