Walking from WLR to Fort Wilderness?

Hi all~

I'd like to take it easy on our first night in DW, so I thought we could take our girls, ages 4 and 7, to see the Chip and Dale Marshmallow Roast and Movie at Fort Wilderness. Can anyone tell me if this is an easy enough walk from the Wliderness Lodge? I know there's a path (it looks like it'll be less than a mile each way)...is it well paved and well lit? We'll have an umbrella stroller for the little one but our big girl will walk.

Also, does anyone know if we have to buy the sticks and marshmallows? Seems like a silly question but I just want to be prepared...

Take the boat. The boat is a fun way to travel to FW. We love WL but have never taken the trail. Consider the trails end buffet for dinner if you are not on the dinning plan and do not have dinner plans. Good food at good prices. I do not know about the price for the marshmellow roast. Also check out the petting zoo if it is not too late.

I don't think the trail is lit, so for going home that may not work. From WL, the easiest way to get to the campfire show is to get on the FW bus at the WL bus stops. This bus runs a regular route that includes the Orange route inside FW, the campfire show will be your second stop(first stop is settlement, the area for Trails End, boat dock, HDDR...). On your way home, walk back to the where you got off the bus and catch the Orange Settlement bus,(if you see anyother color bus, you are at the wrong stop don't panic, just catch whatever Settlement bus show up and transfer at Settlement) this bus will go out to WL after it stops at Settlement(do not get on an Outpost bus).

You don't have to buy sticks and marshmellows(but you can). You may bring your own snacks, including makings for smores if you want.

We did the chip and dale campfire this past February and took the bus over from the WL. If you want to buy the stuff for making smores, i think it was $7 for a small bag of marshmallows, 2 sticks, some graham crackers and 2 chocolate bars. they also have popcorn, nachos etc. to buy if you like.

The trail is very nice especially when you get to see some wilderness animals. However, it is a rather long walk for little ones and it is not lit at night. (At least it wasn't when we were there in February.) You could always try the walk over and take the bus or boat back after the sing-along.
