Walking from Wilderness Lodge to TTC

It would be difficult even getting out of WL. By the guard gate there are no sidewalks and you have cars and busses coming in and out.

Yea... No on is going to convince me that it isn't completely safe to wait until there aren't cars for a significant distance and then cross World Drive. I also wouldn't call that stretch of it a major highway. That is why I felt the need to post despite other posters being given the traffic explanation for why it isn't safe. However, I don't want to mess with snakes:scared1:. Thanks to all for the info about the snakes. That is a good reason not to do this walk.

I highly doubt anyone walking along a road thinks they are going to get hit by a car or bus. And yet it happens. Just a really silly thing to consider doing. I'm glad that at least the threat of snakes will keep you from doing something so....misinformed.

Disney does not allow guest to walk along the grassy areas along side the roadways. And yes security will stop you from doing it. Why not just take the boat from the Wilderness Lodge over to MK and then get on the monorail. The monorail goes to the TTC. :confused3

Well if they took the answer that you give them then they wouldn't of come on here as a new poster to stir up trouble:stir::stir:

Note that with the construction going on at the Poly, the temporary Capt Cook's location is not serving Dole Whips, so there may be no point in heading to the Poly for one during your September trip.

Update - Capt Cook's at the Poly has reopened. However, they no longer serve Dole Whips. There will be a new place opening in the former location of the Wyland Gallery that will serve Dole Whips, but it's not built yet.

I guess you missed the part where I said that I walk along far busier roads with much less of a shoulder all the time and see other people doing it every single day. You may not be aware of the phenomenon of "road runners". If you are not, I would be curious to learn where you are from. If you go into a Sports Authority or Dicks someone will be able to recommend you a shoe for running long distances along roads. You can also buy reflective clothing made for the purpose of running along roads at night. High school track athletes run along roads for miles every day for practice and shockingly the roads do not have sidewalks. Amazingly, such people do this every day without getting killed. It may be because they actually know what they are doing and look both ways before crossing a street. You also might want to consider the difference between "thinking" you won't get hit by a car and conducting yourself in such a way as to make sure it does not happen. Since I hate to see someone so...misinformed, I invite you follow the link below to read a post about walking between the Contemporary and the Wilderness Lodge. One poster did an excellent job of responding to the same kind of "crossing a street is risking your life" nonsense I encountered in this post (citing Florida law and providing pictures for example). Ultimately the OP did run from the Contemporary to the Wilderness Lodge before dawn one morning, found it completely safe, and had some CMs wish her good morning along the way. Anyone interested in some well-founded and well-reasoned information on walking between the WL and surrounding resorts should read that thread (link above). I wish I had before posting.

I was just at the Wilderness Lodge on Fri-Sun and I really miss not being able to walk between the parks and hotels like you can at Disneyland. It took me 36 minutes to get from Magic Kingdom to the Wilderness Lodge on Saturday night. I could have walked it in 20 minutes if they had a half way decent walking path. Disney really missed the ball when they were planning Disney World by not providing sidewalks on the streets. They seem to have realized their errors and corrected the situation when they planned Celebration which has a very pedestrian friendly feel.

Extremely different from the occasional surprise foot-trafficker encountered at WDW. Where you do something regularly and others daily, drivers expect.

WDW is very spread out and I don't think they want people walking long distances, that's why they have a huge network of busses, boats & monorails. There's the issue of wildlife plus they would have to light the areas plus security. They never built a path between MK and GF, I think because it would pass a wooded area.

Safety issue. Easy enough to protect a sidewalk that is fairly short. Not so if it's long and runs beside a heavily wooded area.
