Does anyone know approximately how long of a walk it would be from loop 1500 to the Settlement or Outpost depots? We are debating bringing bikes with us, but don't mind the walk if it's not too far. This will be our first Fort trip - I'm so excited!!

Outpost is approxiamtely .8 mile and about a 15 minute walk and the Settlement is .7 mile and 13 minute walk.

I would also consider the fact that you may wish to go to other areas as well. This includes looping through other campsites to "look around", the pools, or the Meadows. If you have the room to bring them, I would suggest bringing the bikes. The place is a lot of fun to explore and you can make this easier on yourself if you bring the bikes.

For me, walking wasn't all that bad. We stayed in the 2000 loop and I remember walking around and going through several loops, and eventually getting lost, not really, but it was fun trying to figure out how I got somewhere. I am use to standing and walking all day. When DW or the DD's where with me, I had to limit how far we could walk because they are not use to it. The Fort is easy to walk and with the different trails you can easily get from one loop to another and before you know it your at the Outpost or Settlement. Don't know why I'm rambling. Have a great time and enjoy the Fort!

A really tired dad pushing two sleeping kids in a double stroller so they don't have to be moved from the boat to the cart then to the tent, will take exactly 17 minutes to walk from the settlement to the 1500 loop :)

I totally agree, bring the bikes if you have the room!

We were assigned loop 1500 for both our tent camping trips at FW (I so want to do it again!). We walked so much at parks each day that we simply wanted to take the internal bus to get to the Settlement and our awaiting meals at Trails End.
