We are planning on walking to MGM from Epcot one morning after grabbing some quick FastPasses for Soarin'. The problem is, the World Showcase will not be open yet. Does anyone know if we will be allowed to just walk through the World Showcase to get to through the International Gateway? If not, is there another way to way to get to the path to MGM?

Thanks!

There will be CM's along the route. Just tell them you are going to the Boat or the Boardwalk. When you get to the bridge near the Beach Club go over the bridge toward the Boardwalk. The path to MGM begins behind the Boardwalk Villas so it's shorter if you head in that direction at the bridge. It's a long walk so you can always decide to take the boat. If you change your mind before the bridge head toward the Yacht & Beach Club dock rather than the Boardwalk to knock off a leg of the boat ride.

Yes - they will let you through. Just explain where you are going. Like the previous person said, you may want to walk to the Y&B and then take the boat to MGM. :thumbsup2

I definitely concur with taking the boat versus walking. That would be one long walk, after you've already walked through EPCOT to get to the Intl. Gateway. If the boat is right there, it takes probably about the same amount of time as walking. Even if I had to wait 5 minutes for a boat, it'd be better than that walk, IMHO.

As for getting to the IG exit/entrance, the other posters are correct in that it is open at the same time as the front entrance. There may not be many CM's showing you the way, but your way will be rope-guided all the way from Future World to the IG.

If you do intend to walk anyway, Karrit2000 is right: head left toward BWI over that bridge. That would save you 10 minutes of walking right there, I bet.

We like doing this walk and everyone has it right! One tip, to maybe save you 5 minutes (ie. shortcut).....once you've passed ESPN and Flying Fish take a left towards the green...just before the General Store. Take your first right, just past Wyland's Gallery and you'll be at the back of the main pool. Proceed past the pool ....staying to the left and you'll run right into the walkway to MGM. At that point it's a 10 - 15 minute walk to the turnstiles!! Have fun!

As the previous posters stated, its a log walk, but if you're in shape and have the time, it might be nice just to take in the scenery, but if its hot, as soon as you get through the international gateway you'll see a boat dock coming up on your left. GET ON! :goodvibes

The Cast Members will not ask you where you are going. They are stationed in the area to keep guests out of World Showcase before 11am.
After you reach the end of Future World simply turn right and keep walking. Do NOT cross the bridge over to France. Continue straight past the United Kingdom. You will then come to the International Gateway of Epcot. This entrance/exit has the same hours as the main Epcot entrance. Because of the bio-scan at the turnstile they no longer give you a hand stamp for re-entry so just exit and you will see the boat dock on your left. The Friendship boats run between Epcot and the Disney Studios throughout the day. They stop at the Yacht/Beach clubs, Boardwalk, and Swan/Dolphin.
The walking time is less than the boat ride. But with all the walking at WDW a nice relaxing boat ride is probably a better idea. The boat takes about 30 minutes to get from one park to the other.

WS is open but only part of it. The guests from the Epcot resorts can come into EPCOT - so it is open from The International gateway to Future World - on the England/Canada side - and over to Norway for the Princess Breakfast.

We have done this walk and it is not bad. It is about a 30 minute walk from the International Gateway, which will be open for you. As others have said, you can also take the boat from either Epcot or the YC/BC. If you take it from the YC/BC you will stop first at the Swan/Dolphin and then at MGM. On the way back to Epcot you can also take the boat all the way to Epcot from MGM. On the return trip you will stop at the Boardwalk also. So Epcot is the fourth stop from MGM. The boat takes awhile, but it is a nice alternative. Either way, you can easily get between these two parks.
Have Fun!
