we're thinking of hiring a car from the budget at doubletree resorts. has anyone walked from DTD to doubletree? roughly how long will it take to walk?

I haven't done this personally...but I see people walking from the Downtown Disney hotels to the Marketplace all the time.

As long as you are referring to the Marketplace portion of Downtown Disney (and not the West Side), I can't imagine it's more than a 7-10 min walk (this would include crossing the busy street at the light. Be careful there. There are also TONS of cabs that just sit in the parking lots of DD/Marketplace if you want to take one. Shouldn't be more than a $5 cab ride.

I think it might be 15 minutes walk, as DH and stayed a few times at the old Marriott (now not rehabbed Holiday Inn). You have to walk by the Hilton, Holiday Inn, Royal Plaza and then you get to the Doubletree, right across from Crossroads Plaza.

I believe you can also get rental cars at the Car Care Center, and Dolphin.

would go with 15 minutes - walked back to lbcbw and it took around 12 minutes.

this is not a bad walk - it is under shade mostly on a very nice street.

It's less than a mile from the DTD Marketplace to the Doubletree so it probably wouldn't take more than 15 minutes and quite likely a little less time than that. You do have to cross two major roads - Buena Vista Drive from the Marketplace to the Hotel Plaza Blvd sidewalk and then Hotel Plaza Blvd to get to the side that the Doubletree is on. There are sidewalks on both sides of HP Blvd.

they changed it - you can now go directly to Hotel plaza - by just crossing Buena Vista drive - so no having to go across the buena vista then going across Hotel plaza - the Hilton and its side has it own crosswalk.

this crosswalk is strange - you need to hit the light to change over to walk.

while you are walking this crossroad - all the cars right of way are red - you can't even turn right on red - while the crosswalk light gives the right of the way to people walking.

so this is probably the best place to use the crossroad - so have patience
