I have not stayed in Disney before and have only been in Florida once before when we stayed on I Drive. None of us drive and we thought we would have to eat in the Resort (ASMo)/parks every day. However, my neice has just come back from staying on 192. She says we would be able to get the bus to DTD and then walk out to Kissimmee! Is this feesable with 2 children 9 & 10 and myself with joint problems? Or is it much too far.

Also as we stayed on I Drive before, we had to I Ride/Lynx Bus it to Disney, so we never got to be there at night time. Is there anything in particular you would recommend us to see. We will be able to have an easy day by the pool and go out at night, without worrying about getting to our hotel.

Any advice is greatly appreciated.

From Downtown Disney you can't walk to Kissimmee. You could walk down Hotel Plaza Blvd to the Crossroads Shopping Center (where there are quite a few eateries) , but it's a long trek. I wouldn't want to do it, but you could get the bus to DTD and then get a taxi (there are always plenty of yellow cabs around).

As far as Kissimmee is concerned, from ASMo you could get a taxi to the 192 (aka the Irlo Bronsen Memorial Highway) where there are literally hundreds of places to eat. Check out this interactive map. Coming from ASMo, you would be entering 192 at Sherberth Road (click on Map 2).

Just because you are staying at ASMo without a car, doesn't mean you can't take advantage of the other resort restaurants. From ASMo, I think you need to take a bus to DTD and then switch to another bus.

Downtown Disney and the BoardWalk are both well worth visiting at night. Did you get to do the night-time shows at the parks last time? IllumiNations at Epcot, Wishes and SpectroMagic at MK and Fantasmic at MGM are all 'not to be missed' attractions.

Hi. I agree that Kissimmee would be too long a walk - it takes a fair while in the car.

We stayed at the Grosvenor on our last trip which is very close to DTD. We often walked to Crossroads for dinner & the Pirates Cove mini golf. We had breakfast @ Dennys or somewhere similar (the memories gone a bit fuzzy ;) ) which is past Crossroads near to the Sheraton Safari hotel. I have to say that we enjoyed the walk as did the children then aged 6 & 9.

I don't think we would have enjoyed the walking if it was in the summer heat & humidity - I'm sure it helped that we went at a cooler time of year.
