I really hope that someone can help me out here! I just cannot seem to find any concrete info. on this.

We're visiting at Thansgiving with my dad who will be in an ECV. "Walking" a long distance is not a problem for him; however, navigating the ECV onto a boat or a bus can be a challenge. It is easier to walk. BUT...we're also with my 2 DS's (7 & 10) who are way to heavy to carry! Although riding with Pop Pop on the scooter is sometimes an option.

Anyhow, we stayed at HRH last year (without dad) and found the walk to be great! Obviously this is the closest. Well, HRH is not available at all for T-day weekend. RPH is at $99 for Ent. Club and PBH is at $150 Ent. Club. Obviously, PBH is a much nicer place (and I could be easily swayed for $50 more), but I'm really concerned about the distance to the parks. It seems that you need to cross a large 4 lane road on your walk from PBH, is this right? Has anyone experienced this? We're kind of used to the walk from the Swan/Dolphin to EPCOT or MGM (I know this is a different place! LOL). If you're familiar with those, how would PBH or RPH compare?

I certainly appreciate any insight about this! Thanks!

Haven't been to the PBH, but visited the RP on our recent stay at the HRH. We visited my nephew at the RP. He was there with his 3 year old and five year old. He said the walk to the parks was no big deal for any of them from the RP. In fact, he said he enjoyed the walk.

We just got back from staying at PBH. It is an incredible hotel. We loved it. To answer your question, it is about a 20 minute walk through beautifully landscaped terrain to the parks, Universal Studios being the first one you come to. You never have to cross a busy road; You go under the bridges. The sidewalks are wide and very pleasant. There were times that the walk didn't appeal to us because of the heat and we would wait on the boat. While I would personally pick PBH, in your situation, I would seriously consider HRH. It is the closest to the parks, about a five minute walk.

I think she said HRH is sold out, but RP is closest to IOA and a 10 minute walk to US/
Like riduvall said you don't have to cross the highway when you are coming from PBH, they have you going on a bridge & you never even know the highway is there. It's such a beautiful walk, they have all the flowers & bushes labeled.PBH takes about 15 minutes to get to US & 20 to IOA.
If you really want HRH keep trying in the mean time.

We loved the walk from RPH. It was peaceful and a pretty short walk. I did see some sort of ramps by the water taxis though and if you boarded last, your dad could just go straight onto the boat and "park" facing the opposite wall. The just back out when exiting. Just a thought :-)

I rank the hotels this way in terms of walking time to the parks: HRH, RPR, PBH.

Here's a shortcut from PBH to USF: Walk to the main auto entrance to the rsort and cross the street to the main auto entrance to HRH.

Nip into the parking lot to your right and follow it past the hotel to the front gate of USF. This takes you on a more or less straight line from PBH to USF.

This is nowhere near as scenic as the path by the waterway, but it is a bit shorter.

Kelly, Doesn't it depend om which park? I would think that RP is closet to IOA & HRH Is closer to US.

Yes, but RPR isn't as close to IOA as HRH is to USF. At least I don't think it is.

Let's all bring tape measures to the next Meet.:D

We stayed at RPR and our son just loved IOA so it worked out great - the walk from RPR to IOA is about a 10 minute walk and without the heat could be very pleasant. However, from RPR to USF it was quite a little walk in the heat so we usually took the boat to city walk and then walked from there to USF. We finally figured out that it seemed a lot shorter when going from USF to IOA to stay on the side of Hard Rock Cafe rather than walking the main CityWalk path - the side with the boat ramp.
