Walking distance to Parks for Seniors

I am planning a trip to DL with my parents (senior citizens). We have been to WDW many times, and they are capable of walking from the monorails into the Magic Kingdom and Epcot - where they rent ECVs. I am concerned about the distance from the GC or DL hotel into Disneyland. From what I have seen, it looks like the GC is closest to Disneyland for people who can walk with no difficulties. Can anyone recommend the best hotel to stay at with minimal walking into the parks? Is it easier to stay at the DL hotel and ride the monorail or stay at the GC and walk? Thanks!

Pooh,

I just returned from my third stay at GC. The distance between the Disneyland Hotel and the monorail is about the same as the distances from the GC to Disneyland. Of course, the Grand Californian also has a private entrance to California Adventure. I would recommend the GC over DH as it is a beautiful hotel and a great location. You might want to check to see if the hotel can rent the ECVs and that way they can travel from the hotels to the parks on them....

ECV rentals are not available outside the parks, nor can you take an ECV from one park to the other (you'd have to turn in your ECV in one park, walk over to the next park & pick up a replacement ECV). I bet though that the hotels can call the 1st park you plan to visit for the day and "hold" an ECV for you to rent when you arrive ... an advantage on busy days. :)

I wouldn't count on the monorail these days, they are running fewer trains which increases the wait time for getting into DL. You're probably better off walking. GCH is definitely the closest walk, and DLH is a bit further, and PPH is the furthest walk.

Definitely go with GC. The monorail was running so slow a few weeks ago, that it wasn't worth the wait. The walk from GC to DL was only 3 or 4 minutes. Its very short. The private entrance into CA was even better.
