Walking Distance Question Hojo/Residence Inn Maingate

I've narrowed down my hotel choices for my July 2012 trip to DL. Last time (in 2008!) we stayed at Hojo and really liked the hotel and didn't mind the walk. Our only issue is that we had to get two rooms because my parents come with us. We are considering staying at the Residence Inn Maingate this time and sharing a larger room. I've looked at maps but can't figure out walking wise how the residence inn maingate walk compares to the hojo walk. Does anyone know if the walks are near the same distance?

Oh and does anyone have any opinions on the RI Maingate too? For the record I love HOJO but I am thinking I won't see an ENT rate for July so the cost might be a wash. Thanks!

The Residence Inn is a little more than twice as far as the Hojo. It will go from walking distance to questionalble to walk. You are likely to rely on ART for at least the return trip.

Thanks Skiingfast, that is what I needed to know. That is quite a bit of a difference.

We are at the RI now. We love it. We do use ART most of the time, but the walk is doable. It is .48 miles to Hojos and .73 to RI, but the breakfast is great if that helps!!!

Thanks for the responses, but could someone post the exact address of the RI being discussed? I know there are two, and can never be sure which one people are talking about.
I, too, am considering an RI (the one by the Anaheim Garden Walk?) for the big suites for a group of six (3 adults, 3 kids), and like having breakfast (REAL breakfast with protein) included.

RI Maingate, that the OP asked about is on Clementine.

RI Anaheim, is well down Harbor and not a walking distance hotel in anyway.

Honestly don't know why people complain about the walk.
It took us no longer than 15 minutes to walk back from DL to RI Maingate each night, and probably 10 minutes if that in the morning. Most of the time spent was waiting at the traffic lights to cross the road. It is walkable.

Maybe if you have younger children it might be a bit longer, but it isn't a far walk. It is a safe walk too, with well lit streets. The ART is also available, we never used it as we were capable of walking just under 1 mile after being at the park. The included breakfast is well worth 'the walk' :) Sorry I don't mean for this post to be sarcastic but since returning I've read some complaints on TripAdvisor and other forums where people have complained about 'how far away it was from Disneyland to walk to every day' which really annoyed me because it isn't! Yes, how long is a piece of string, but compared to how much walking you do whilst at the parks, another 1mile isn't going to kill you...

I hope you stay at the RI Maingate, it's a lovely place to stay. The staff are so kind and helpful, the grounds are lovely and the rooms/suites are quite spacious

That does help for sure! Hmm out walk to the park in my neighborhood is about .5 miles. .73 doesn't sound too bad. Thanks.

This is all good to know. I don't think under a mile is a bad walk at all. The only time we had issues when we were at the Hojos is on the way home for my four year old. I'm sure she'll whine about the walk in the evening regardless of where we stay. My concern is my parents. After all the walking in the park I was concerned it might be a lot on the way back. We are leaning toward the RI because of the larger suite for us. Your feedback is helpful for sure so thank you!

The shuttle is #7 and it picks up every 20 mins. If your parents are over 60, they can get a 1/2 price ticket for the shuttle.

I do not see it the way SF does, but the walk from RIMG is an easy walk and we measured room to ESP at under a half mile. We still have not stayed at hojo as of yet so really can not comment on that.
