Walking/Borrowing Question

Tried searching this forum, but couldn't find the specific answer I'm looking for. Let's say I have a 7-day reservation I want to book, but I'm going to need to borrow some points from the next UY to fill that reservation. If I walk it, do I need to borrow more points than I really need, or will member services cancel the first day and book the last day as one transaction (effectively freeing up the points from the first day and using those to book the second day)?

For a concrete example, let's say I want a Wed-Wed reservation which costs 200 points, but I only have 150 points (and borrow 50 from the next year). Weekday night is 25 points. If I book Tues-Tues and borrow 50 points, when I try to walk it to Wed-Wed, am I good with the 50 points I borrowed or do I need to borrow another 25 points to get the 8th day, then free up 25 points when I release the 1st day (which I would then need to bank or use)?

With a 7 night trip, you would be constantly using the same number of points total while walking, and they would just subtract a night and add a night without any need to borrow additonal points.

*as long as you don't cross seasons.

If you are borrowing points to walk the reservation you have to be very careful that you don't borrow more points than you will ultimately need. This can happen if you walk a Saturday or Friday night that you won't be using and then when you cancel it and book a Thursday thru Sunday you will need less points and possible have borrowed a few points too many. Once borrowed you can't then rebank them but have to use them in the calendar year you brought them into. Know what you need and don't walk if you will over borrow to do it and then be stuck with points you might forfeit

Thanks everyone. We're in the same season and doing a full week, so I don't have to worry about overborrowing on the initial reservation. I only plan to walk it once, and it's mostly because I'm not going to be around the first few days of the 11 month window, but will be available the day before that window opens up.

They will use the borrowed points first and the remainder will be current points and available to bank.
